why won't Dish fix their idiotic guide issues?

How did they end up with TiVO for the guide? They were in battle at one time over DVR infringement. Part of settlement?

Software for sketching Cable TV diagrams

There are specific wiring-diagramming programs, but they're for complex harnesses. A DiSH installation would be a very simple draw-up.

The deodorant war heated up pretty quickly, sort of like the shaving war. This "whole body" small brand targeted to women came out, and so you have to know that the P&Gs are working on a response, and so now there's a Secret branded entry, and now I see one on that's evidently for dudes.

Autoplay - how to turn it off?

I have gotten this from Netflix and DO NOT like it. Should be opt-in, not opt-out. It's no problem for me on my non-hopping DiSH (ViP 722). It never tries to start another episode.

Yep, I've skipped back to check out ads I skipped by. With DVR it's not that there are NO ads- it's just that you have SO much more control

I was on the younger side, single digits, thus in the target audience for the kid & robot. The show itself wasn't a kids' show, but it was a favorite. I also wanted to watch Star Trek (in beautiful b&w) but it was on after bedtime. Definitiely in the Angela camp (brunette over blonde).

Ford to drop AM radio in new vehicles

This is a part of it as well. Was allowing all of this consolidation a good idea? Is there any remaining concept of serving in the public interest?

Really, you pay for your band space? I thought that was assigned, in exchange for serving the public interest. How much do you pay? I remember GM cars back in the 70s having terrible AM reception to the point it wasn't worth trying to use it. Part of it I believe was their decision to eliminate...

I'm ready to Cancel Dish because of those Burger King Commercials.

When I switch between streaming & DiSH on my Sony smart TV, there's a huge volume difference. As to same-system volume-leveling & the law, I recall several years ago stations & providers who were called out on it gave the "excuse" that the commercials aren't actually louder, at least per the...

It's now illegal for them to boost volume for ads. But maybe they just want to have it their way. Still, they are controlling the weather forecasts on all of the locals

Does your TV work with MPEG-4? Here’s how to know for sure

Back in the 80s, High Definition was the buzzword, and it was more or less assumed that Japan would end up setting the (or, a) standard. However, they were working on an analog system ('Muse,' if I recall) that was a bandwidth hog, while meanwhile we managed to assemble that erstwhile group of...

    From DISH about Locals

Since DiSH went all-in on sat locals some years back, they've been seeking to maximize buy-through, mainly by including it in standard packaging. Not only do they make the incremental revenue from reselling locals, but like with cable nets, the more total subs, the lower they can usually...

Recovering My Dish Network Equipment Schematic wise

If this is trolling, it's odd in that it's so blatantly incoherent. I'm frankly reading mental illness in this in the obsessive repetition- schizophrenic.

    Oh boy...

No hiccups here. "affect" is influencing action (as in, "will this affect the server?"), "effect" is resulting condition. Affects of a medication may include side effects. So "take effect". Oop, was going to say no hiccups, but then a delayed response to edit post.

    Dish Network Technician Name

Back then it was probably from either a local dealer or a "fulfiller" for a selling-only agent. Digital Home Plan, lol, that does take me back. Wasn't that the first "lease," where you didn't buy the equipment? You gotta cut the guy a break; his system was never installed correctly, he's been...

    Streaming Is The New Cable

I haven't heard of that, except I do know that PBS affils have to remit (from 'viewers like you') based on what shows they want to run. Locals began extorting providers after legislation passed switching them from a cable "must carry" status to a self-declaratory status of either "must carry"...

    Streaming Is The New Cable

The true "greed" that has propelled TV costs has come not so much from providers as from content. You have local stations demanding exorbitant amounts from sat/cable for what is otherwise free, over-the-air ad-supported content. The biggest cost driver of course is sports, which if that's your...

What is GMRS? And should you stay away from it?

This is the radiotelephony service in the UHF band that predates cellular, right? Or as I recall, it combined point-to-point with ability to contact a "mobile operator" to place a call to a phone #. We used it on the farm in the 80s. I suppose you could overhear about traffic on it, but wouldn't...
