Better get Netflix for NFL on Xmas

How about all the other stuff I posted to dispute what you keep posting about streaming, any rebuttal?

    How things have changed

No, you posted about younger people, which my kids are part of- My kids are part of that generation you are referring to, I just wanted to point out not everyone is the same and they definitely have real jobs. I am starting to think there is a switch that goes off in us at a certain age, where...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

They are that inexpensive because some of the costs is subsidized by the Government. For example, say the real monthly cost is $50 for that service, the person’s share is $25, then the Government’s share is $25. I have no idea what the real costs are, just giving a basic example.

Better get Netflix for NFL on Xmas

By the way, speaking of profitable and unprofitable, found this from 2002- This summer, the company's Fox broadcast network reversed its ratings slide of recent years with its hit program ''American Idol.'' While the network is still unprofitable, the unit's operating loss narrowed to $8...

Better get Netflix for NFL on Xmas

I am pretty positive there was a Netflix in 2023. And there you go, trying to pick up the ball from the bundle guy, who took off after he never could proof anything he posted, gave a goodbye post, that basically said he was leaving because nobody believed him. Yes streaming is still growing...

    New Install, new equipment?

Which will cost a extreme amount of money to switch over one side to another. Another reason way it may never happen. The other factor against it, if Dish bought/merged with it, DirecTV is still carrying about $10 Billion of debt, add that to Dish/echostar’s debt of $19 Billion /future...

    Need Information & Advice

First, doubtful the salesperson was from Dish, maybe a local operation. Second, get the prices in writing, while there are some savings for being a new customer, they are not usually that high between the two companies. Then check with Dish, either online or call, to see if the prices are...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

I have pointed this out before, my step father is 78 this year, streams everything, always has the newest cell phone (knows how to use it also), computer, tablet, etc. Age has nothing to do with it, it is just a issue with those who do not wish to learn, but that is usually not a age issue...

    How things have changed

They are, except YTTV. Painting a lot of people with a broad brush. First I am 57 this year, worked my *** off for 30 years, money not a issue, first retired at 52, returned to work the year I turned 56, retired from the mouse a week ago, just accepted a new job with a Media Finance Group...

    How things have changed

Do you just glance at posts or pass over what they really say, here- No one posted what you are alluding to, immediately closing down, it is a process that a lot of failed businesses have gone throughout our history. How many businesses have failed and abandoned the building but still have...

    How things have changed

It is predicted to increase for Cable/Satellite for the next few years. DirecTV (company) is losing over 500,000 a quarter, confirmed here- DIRECTV's video subscriber base (combined DIRECTV, U-verse, DIRECTV STREAM) is the second largest traditional multi-channel video programming distributor...

    How things have changed

Yes it will, do you actually believe when the company is losing money, no hope for a turn around, they will keep service up just so not to hurt the subscribers left? Not how business economics works.

Is “Everybody in a rush to leave DIRECTV and DISH?” Really? Even on enthusiast forums?

Why take away Comcast and Charter? First either of them has almost the same amount of subscribers then Dish and DirecTV’s Satellite Services combined. DirecTV-About 7-8 Million ( out of 10.5 Million, the rest subscribe to Stream, by internet and Uverse) Dish 6.47 Million Comcast 13.6 Million...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

No, they are pretty set on streaming. If a new Live TV streaming service, would be in competition with YTTV, who has a big head start, already has more subscribers then Dish and Sling together. But if they did do so, means a price war between 2 services where the margins are already quite low...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

They does not guarantee they will be saved. Toys r Us still had cashflow, look what happened to them (which would have happened anyways after a period of time).

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

But it is not a viable business with just TV, Dish and Sling still lost 1.2 Million subs last year, about 348,000, yes it is still profitable, but that is shrinking, which is the main reasons why they are having so many issues, the profits from TV are no longer enough to support all of the...

Better get Netflix for NFL on Xmas

By the next big rights deal (expires in 2033), doubtful the Networks would be able to afford the NFL ( and are still there), which explains why the NFL really wanted to get in bed with Netflix.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

    Its TEAM SUMMIT week!

Here you go- Dish first launched its Boost Infinite postpaid service at the end of 2022. But 'our initial approach to the market was rushed,' said the company's new CEO, Hamid Akhavan. Akhavan said Dish will re-enter the US postpaid market for wireless services sometime in the second half of...

Disney Is ‘Pretty Dramatically’ Reducing Spending on Traditional TV Content

The story was not about content being cut for Plus, it was about cutting what is on Disney Owned Paid Live TV Channels, which includes the former Fox owned Channels. Disney+ just had their first profitable quarter. Other studios have also announced no more or reduced new scripted shows on...

    House of the Dragon

For House of Dragon, the first season, about $20 Million a episode. https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/house-of-the-dragon-budget-episode-cost-1235238285/ You can google most TV show budgets, for example, ER, a show that ended years ago, it’s budget was $13 Million per, Big Bang Theory, $9...

    House of the Dragon

Economics are playing hell with all TV productions, especially Cable/Network Shows. With advertising so down, cord cutting ( loss of per sub fees) and yet, the cost to produce a show is still going up, have to cut back on something, episodes is one of those options. A lot of returning shows ...
