    Anik F3 118 discussion

Now that Dish has ceased their international services which used Anik F3 at 118.7 W, maybe it will be used for something else. Questions that come to mind: - that satellite was circular polarity, Ku FSS band. Is the polarity scheme in the "hardware" of the satellite or controlled by the uplink...

I concur with cyberham, get a motor. The only caveat there is trees and other obstacles. The main reason my backyard is now full of dish antennae pointed every which way is because of a bunch of trees that grew and filled in over the past few years, so unless I take out a loan and hire a tree...

105 is pretty much just the VA but things can change without notice. I got my DiSEqC 8x1 switches from Hyper Casey ~ $20 each. I started with one of those and grew. Yes, it's an addictive hobby. (click below for gory details)

Congrats on your progress! Those HughesNet dishes are great, I have one pointed at 97/101/105. You can stack LNBFs on either side of the center one and get satellites 4 degrees apart easily with that dish. To combine them, I'm using a DiSEqC 1.1 8x1 switch (around $20) and WB68 multiswitches to...

    LegitFTA down?

Pretty sure I've never known of that site before right now. And registration is disabled. Oh well.

Any one not getting the Weigel channels?

This is on 101W in case anybody didn't know (like me till I found it in another thread)

    LPB on 87w Problems?

Heh, my 87W is an old DirecTV slimline. CNN stuff and FL lottery still there but LPB and Florida not so much, they were all just fine when I put it up a couple months ago.

    LPB on 87w Problems?

Those persistent CNN feeds that usually are outdoor camera views have been showing the occasional Trump rally and other newsworthy events.

Enter To Win - Pansat PT-5900 Dual Output 10750 Ku LNBF from HyperMegaSat.com - Ends October 31st

"I want to win the PANSAT PT-5900 Dual Output STANDARD 10750 L.O. Ku LNBF" I'm stupid, just noticed "one entry per day"

Just out of curiosity what of you think Freeview in UK,could work in USA?

A large portion of what's on FreeSat is equivalent to local broadcast channels here. Some (BBC) paid for via the licence fees and others (ITV, CH4, etc) I think sell ads. But in the US, each broadcast channel has a specific "territory" that it "owns" and their agreements with the networks state...

What in the world am I doing wrong?

Well. Issues solved, or at least a whole lot better now! And despite causing myself some embarrassment, I will detail what the fixes are. First, I disassembled the feedhorn from the LNB and inspected it. There was some dirt built up inside. I thoroughly cleaned all of this and reassembled...

What in the world am I doing wrong?

Is it always 22.6 degrees, is that part of the math that makes these things work, or is the exact angle determined by the shape and size of the particular dish? None of my other more oval style dishes seem to be anywhere near that much of an angle. Skew is not an option with this dish design...

    Primestar 84e LNB LO?

You already figured it out, that's an early standard single output with 10750 LO.

What in the world am I doing wrong?

Thanks for that. According to Figure 3.0 "Feed Assembly" it looks like I have it assembled correctly. Parts 11, 12, 13 are missing, replaced with zip-ties ;)

What in the world am I doing wrong?

I do believe I have tried that and the position in that photo is where it gets the best signal. It's also where it actually fits. The top piece to hold it in place has always been missing, thus the zip-ties, but it fits exactly in that spot based on the size of the bottom piece which it sits on...

What in the world am I doing wrong?

I have a ChannelMaster 3040842-02 1.0M-02 (the huge round one - 43 inches high by 40 inches wide). Using the stock feedhorn and a new dual-feed standard LNB. I've tried it on 97W, 99W, and 103W. This dish is giving me fits. Pointed at the same satellite, a SuperDish (24 inches high by 33.5...

    Satellite Meters

I bought one of the cheaper ones recently V8 Finder 2. It's definitely not as functional as one of those ridiculously expensive meters that gives you all the db levels or whatever and it's not smart enough to figure out which satellite you're pointed at. But it does what I need which is keeping...

Wondering what channels I can get with some old equipment.

Just checked my notes. I was able to get BYU and BVN with a dish that size. With a slightly larger (SuperDish 105) I am getting basically everything there.

Wondering what channels I can get with some old equipment.

...appropriate spot and adding one of Hyper Casey 's LNB holders with a linear LNBF. I did have another of them for a couple of days in the front yard* on a temp mount pointed at 67W, with a DishPro tacked to the side for 77W. If you can find locally an old SuperDish, or even better HughesNet...

    Recomendation for receiver

I concur with comfortably_numb here. An Amiko or other small, inexpensive receiver would definitely do the job, and you could fit several of them on a rack shelf. Maybe you want to provide a few more channels in the future.

Anybody know anything about this dish?

    Looks like a nice one.
