Re-greasing is so it works in cold climates. I re-did mine more than 10 years ago after I purchased it. The factory lube turns to concrete at -20C.
Also the top bearing can come loose. I have tightened mine a few times. You have to dis-assemble the unit to tighten the nut. Using a bit of...
Don't see any dish/LNBF/Motor combo deals anymore. Too bad if you were getting all three anyway would likely save some shipping at least.
Also if you are going to use a second dish you will want a DISEqC switch. 4-port is good then you have room for more! :)
There is always more...
That type of dish does have a longer focal length than most FTA dishes. The LNBF does look like it's aimed a bit low. Should be aimed an inch or two below the center of the reflector usually, but difficult to tell from the photo due to the angle it's taken.
Yes 97 is reletively easy to aim at...
Maybe double check what KE4EST wrote above:
"Set your LNB type 10600 and turn on 22K"
In order to do that you would have to select "standard" instead of "universal", and input the 10600 LO setting manually (or choose from a pull-down menu). That should allow you to select 22K.
Also as...
Been working fine with TNAP 4.0 using the alternate skin as indicated by others. NTP works again as well. El Bandido indicates the weather applet will be fixed.
I switched to an openPLI OS seems fine. Streaming and viewing from HDMI directly all good, except NTP doesn't seem to be working. Might have to change servers the included link may be wrong or out-of-date.
Might switch back to TNAP4 and switch skins and see what happens; later though; the MIO is...
Mine started doing the boot loop this morning as well. Interesting.
Wonder if there was a bad update that loaded automatically?
I don't watch from the receiver directly, almost always watgh through KODI via the network. Noticed if I disconnect the netowrk cable it boots up fine and plays...
Just FYI, here is the TP specs:
SES-3/Ku 103.1W 12079 Horizontal 29964.957 8PSK 5/6 DVB-S2
This scanned in with a 120cm dish shows almost 15dB S/N with the TBS PCIE tuner.
What model Amiko there Chas?
I have one of those fancy red ones (A3?)with the aluminum heat sink/housing. It works I think but I havent used it for months. Always have to install firmware from scratch to get it to power up and work. It's very pretty though sitting in the entertainment unit. :)
My MIO 4K (not the "+") runs an HH120 Stab motor, think it would work the same as an HH90 except slower. Make sure you set up your USALS (your coordinates for your spot on the planet) so it knows where to point relative to your dish antenna location. Think you need a minus "-" for western...
Yes the HH120 the dish mounts on top.
I would "2nd the motion" to try to move the "motor" without the dish mounted and LNBF disconnected. Then try with the LNBF connected. If that's good them mount the dish again and try it. Maybe the receiver doesn't have enough power to get the motor to move...
If you want to maximize the dish antenna it might be worth it, but you can get decent results from a regular universal or standard LNBF like post #10.
I see Magic Static already posted the info I posted sorry for the double, missed that earlier.
You can get a dual polarity LNB like the Inverto or Invacom. I actually use a Raven feed horn and a dual universal Inverto on my Musak dish. Works very well!
hxxps://www.satellitesuperstore.com/twinlnb.htm#invertotwinc120 for an example. Might be similar available in the US have to look around.
Awsome! There are a few of us astro-geeks on the forum... :)
The receiver you mention is up-to-date and should be fine. The HD265 I mentioned will play H265 non UHD video (MP5) which is still reletively rare. Either unit would be a good start and get you receiving something off your 8 footer...
Likely an Amiko HD265 receiver and then an ASC-1 positioner would work well to get back into FTA.
Should work with your satellite dish actuator and automatically move the dish when you switch channels on the receiver using diseQc signals. Your analog receiver will work too, but you will have to...
SmartDVB is free and comes with all the video codecs (I think..). You need a good video card though to render 4K Think the only thing you need from the software provided with the card is the card's driver. Not sure what OS you will be working with, windows is fairly easy but Linux can be a bit...
Not much for 4K up there, but so far I am using a TBS-6903 PCIe card, SmartDVB(64) and DVBDream software. Not sure I would spring for another FTA box unless it does 422, but opinions vary of course.
Not sure why but I seem to have forgotten how to add a satellite to the sat list. Not finding it in any documentation; think it was added to the last software update. This is though the remote, not the ALI editor, which I can't seem to get to see saved data either.
I am sure I have added...
Spent some time this am on the A3 and got it to boot again! After 3 tries and on the 4th it seemed to be able to read the boot-recovery image in the uSD card I guess.
For some reason though it doesn't recognize my saved channel/sat lists. The original sat/app list won't load either. Non of the...
My mini-bud is an 8-footer... even that's too small much of the interesting "stuff". It might be big enough to pick up one or two of the channels mentioned in the opening post, but not with a lot of headroom signal-wise. Pic below is my mini-bud. To the lower left you can see the 1.2m channel...
A wooden pallet works well temporarity. Maybe a fence you can attach a mast to... as long as it has a view to the south.
I have a 1.2m Ku dish that has been mounted "temporarily" to a wooden pallet for 3 years now. It worked, and might have to move it one of these days, but it works where it...
