How can you turn off HDMI Control on a DIRECTV Gemini?

The way that HDMI-CEC was rolled out, not all manufacturers implement all the features so they cover themselves by using "custom" terminology. Another blog question giving hope where there currently isn't any.

    Need new Video Editing computer.

Make sure you can suffer Windows 11 with all of your important applications. I'd suggest that you scale way back on the SSD since time is no longer critical and rendering is "the most miserable and time consuming job of all". I like the idea of the older processor as you don't risk getting...

I did mine using the online renewal a couple of years ago. It worked well enough but getting answers wasn't easy.

These numbers represent the number of non-paying users that are exposed to Ad Sense ads (impressions), not the number Google searches for the site. I suspect that there are some issues with users who should be seeing ads (non-Supporting Pub Members) that aren't.

iOS 18, what did you think?

AI isn't just about raw code. There's also the way in which the queries are formed and what's being asked about. Apple claims that what they do see can't be connected to anyone but I wonder given all the lip-service they gave to integrating your various past experience into your next experiences.

iOS 18, what did you think?

Apple is kind of talking out of both sides of their mouth when they say that the AI is being done entirely on-device -- except when the data is uploaded to the "Private Cloud" for processing elsewhere.

    Multimode Optical Signal Dropping.

How did USB take over the world?

I'm not sure what pre-1980s computers has to do with USB. Ribbon cables weren't much used in serial communications. By the way, the DB9 connector didn't become popular until somewhere into the PC compatible era (perhaps the IBM PC AT?). The DB25 was used instead for serial protocols like...

Speaking of toons lately, Has anyone watched the classic 1972 Fritz The Cat?

Fritz the Cat was far from being a "'toon". I remember those being located in the adult section of my local video store.

STREAMING SATURDAY: “Streaming is turning into cable”

Can't say that I agree with much of this. Satellite losing a local channel for months on end is at least as big as losing a cable channel or two.

Questions about the Sofabaton Universal Remote

I think the bigger question may be how substantial the associated device database is. Universal remotes have taken a big hit from HDMI-CEC and rightly so. URC still makes some powerful remotes but they're wicked expensive.

Can you use a Sofabaton universal remote with a DIRECTV Gemini?

Giving hope and dashing it in a single post. The issue is DIRECTV's choice of RF4CE (Zigbee) as you've noted previously which isn't "Bluetooth". You should have also mentioned that this is a show-stopper for the Gemini Air as it has no IR option.
