What are you using to locate the satellites? I use the Winegard app. Sometimes it appears I have a view of the satellites, but once I look at the angle shown on the app I do not.

It's got the shark antenna they now use for satellite and terrestrial..the old whip antenna is long gone...many android phones can pick up radio stations too

That's exactly what I did, and can verify that there is a tree in the way... I'm currently scoping out a new location for the dish, and dad's going to have said tree trimmed!

Well, at leat my receiver can simulate many styles of surround. Otherwise, that would be a deal breaker...if I go that direction.

Not gonna add another app.

He'll be using the Dish Pointer app that overlays the satellite positions on the camera view. An excellent way of making sure you have a clear view.
