advice for 722k and other VIP users

I just had a 722k go through an incremental hard disk failure and learned a few things that I wish had been sticky-posted here. As it is said, there are two kinds of hard disks: those that have failed and those that are going to fail. First, you may or my not have a system that can back up...

    Official DISH Channel Request Thread

There are a lot of interesting European detective and mystery shows on MHz Network (a/k/a MHZ Worldview). It's non-commercial, too. I've watched some episodes of some of these on DVD, but these are too expensive.

    Dish or Charter.

I was on Charter and switched to Dish due to HD availability of certain channels. A few months later, Charter added HD for all those, I think. I think BBC America HD is available in some Charter markets but maybe not others. As to PQ, I think it's all over-compressed but I find Dish better than...

    Login error dishanywhere?

fixed I tried disabling ABP. No luck. I tried deleting cache. No luck. I started FF in safe mode. No luck. Then restarted FF and all was OK. So apparently going to safe mode and then coming back changed something other than the cache that was interfering.

Friday morning 11/1/2013 (EDT) and I cannot log into dishanywhere via Firefox. I did get logged in using IE. I am getting a dropped down pop-up window that says: Authentication Error Unable to process an authentication request at this time. Please try...

DRA down? and DOL My DVR not working either?

Is DRA down? And DOL My DVR seems to be in an infinite loop on refreshing. Current info displayed is way out of date. (I am trying to connect via dish.sling.com .)

    Mad Money timer not working?

I have a timer to record Mad Money from CNBC M-F at 6pm ET. Suddenly it has decided that all the episodes are duplicate events and has stopped scheduling them. Short of recording "all episodes," which will record duplicate episodes at 6 and 11pm, I guess, is there any fix? EDIT: Never mind...

Dishonline: possible to alter DVR timers?

Thanks to all who helped with this. I hope Dish doesn't take the old site down before debugging DOL.

Dishonline: possible to alter DVR timers?

I tried that (dish.sling.com) and it worked as long as I used Internet Explorer, but not Firefox. Do others use Firefox with this successfully?

Dishonline: possible to alter DVR timers?

I have a 722k (no sling) and I find dishonline worse than useless in trying to control it. Why worse? Sometimes I am able to see my list of recordings and timers, but usually not. When I can and I change something in a timer or try to add a one-time recording, the site shows that it set the DVR...

lost locals frequency during good weather?

Following your instructions, I seem to be getting a signal strength of 43. The number stays steady, but the bar graph jumps around some. I'd say it ranges from 40-48, but it's hard to say given the sparse scale on the graphic. What is "alot" with respect to signal strength variation? If the...

lost locals frequency during good weather?

This all sounds reasonable. I checked the weather radar and there may have been a storm in Greenville SC where, I suspect, the uplink is.

lost locals frequency during good weather?

Definitely could get nationals such as CNNHD, but of course I couldn't check them all. I got a message to the effect that DISH knew about the problem, do not call, etc. All locals in the Asheville NC (i.e., Greenville SC) market went out at the same time. We were watching UNCTV-HD on channel 33...

lost locals frequency during good weather?

Does anybody have any idea how often I might expect to lose all local channels (via satellite) assuming no bad weather? I had that twice in my first six days.
