    HD picture quality worsening?

There is no doubt that E*'s hardware is better. MUCH BETTER. But (sounding like a broken record), PQ is not even close if you have a very large TV.

    HD picture quality worsening?

When I left E* about a year ago (last July 29th, to be exact) the PQ had gone down significantly. D* HD channels were significantly more vibrant, the picture really popped. I have a few friends with E* and large TV's like mine, and all of them notice the PQ difference between the E* and D*. D*...

    HD picture quality worsening?

I don't know what you have been watching. D* is SIGNIFICANTLY better than E* in terms of PQ. Granted, I have a 110" screen, but the noise on the E* HD channels pushed me to D*. I have yet to see any of the issues on D* that I saw every day on E*.

    DirecTV v. Dish...

I compared the MPEG4 to MPEG4 channels. For example, ESPN2HD to ESPN2HD. Also most of the others channels that at the time had been released in MPEG4.

    DirecTV v. Dish...

I still cannot believe people say this. On my 110" screen it isn't even close. Even on my 32" HDTV it isn't close. Granted, it has been 5 months since I had both side by side to compare, but I find it hard to believe Dish has fixed anything in that time frame. ESPN/2HD looks bad on both...

    Dayton Ohio Locals in HD?

It is my understanding that the uplink facility for both companies were updated (or is in the process at this moment) to use the ATSC signals of each channels rather than the NTSC signals.

    Telemundo turned on for Olympics?

This was mentioned when someone threw a fit about Telemundo not being on for everyone a few weeks back. Not sure where you were, ehren.

    Turbo PQ

I find it hard to believe they have modified anything to do with resolution and bitrate, the two biggest components to getting better HD PQ.

VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

On a side note, I just switch to D* last week. It was a hard choice for me because I like E*'s hardware and their new HD additions. Without the new additions it would have been an easy decision, instead I debated it for days over what to do. In the end D* won because of their sports, the fact...

VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

Look at the numbers over the last year... D* has been adding people like crazy, Dish has been adding very few new people. That was even with Voom! Voom was also removed in the 2nd month of the last quarter, not 1st. Even FitzAusTex doesn't believe Voom had little to do with Dish's drop of...

VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

 I find it hard to believe that any significant number of people left Dish due to Voom being removed. I'd say it is more likely due to DirecTV's HD and advertising push.

DISH NETWORK® UNVEILS BIGGEST HIGH DEFINITION UPGRADE IN TV HISTORY

The last 14 are a joke. The part time HD RSNs are a stretch, same with the HD PPV channels. Either way, good to see more HD.

DISH NETWORK® UNVEILS BIGGEST HIGH DEFINITION UPGRADE IN TV HISTORY

    1. D* said 130 HD channels by August 14th, not the end of the year. 2. D* counts all their RSNs in that number, but they will all be full time (of course, limited HD programming). 3. Both companies would have higher numbers if they counted non-"national" HD, as in HD channels you couldn't...

DISH NETWORK® UNVEILS BIGGEST HIGH DEFINITION UPGRADE IN TV HISTORY

Seems as though the marketing point will be short lived, if there really is much of one to begin with. D* announced earlier this week that it was going to be doing the same thing.

DISH NETWORK® UNVEILS BIGGEST HIGH DEFINITION UPGRADE IN TV HISTORY

I understand, Islandguy. But your statement basically said Dish wouldn't show it to you on TBS where they had no option. Obviously they don't have YES, you knew they didn't have YES when you ordered Dish, so complaining about it now doesn't make any sense.

DISH NETWORK® UNVEILS BIGGEST HIGH DEFINITION UPGRADE IN TV HISTORY

Islandguy, you can't blame Dish for that. It is part of the Major League Baseball blackout rules. I assure you that Dish would love to be able to show you the game on TBS.
