Did you have to sign a 2 year commit for that R10?

Yeah I know. I even read the T&Cs and read them off to the CSR at the time of order. It's just a pain in the ass to have to call them.

haha over the weekend I got a postcard from DTV talking about the new 2 year commitment for the Free DVR. So looking forward to talking to a CSR about this one.

My officemate ordered his and the box has yet to show up and even his install date passed without a word from D.

My DSR7000 is still sitting on firmware 3.1. Is there any way to force it to update? It says it has made some service calls already. Do I need to call DTV to get them to blast it to me? Also, does it download the firmware via phone line or satellite?

    Free DVR

I never checked the tracking info. I ordered on Thursday and it would have gotten here on Monday but they didn't have my suite number. So, it's fairly fast. You have to choose an install date, so choose the earliest one if you are installing yourself and then cancel the work order once you...

That should just be the location of where the dvr will be. For me, they put in bedroom. It can be changed. Oh here's a tip. They will ask you for the Receiver ID# or serial. Now, on newer receivers, there's a sticker on the back with a 12 digit number (xxxx-xxxx-xxxx), but on older...

    Free DVR

Well, I got the new dvr installed and all is working. The software on it is 3.1. It took over an hour to get activated for the lack of knowledge by the CSR. Not his fault, but he should have listened to me. Three times I told him to ask his supervisor about the promo he didn't know about...

    Free DVR

Got my free unit today. It's a Philips DSR7000 and looks to be very clean. Also came with the card so I can install on my own tonight. I just need to terminate the second line I dropped in the wall last year. Thx for this thread because I would have never known about it otherwise.

    Free DVR

nah, actually high school nickname. So, when I talked to a CSR about pricing, I asked if I could install it myself. I've already got all the connections ready. Did anyone else do this? If I receive it sooner than the installer is scheduled, I'll just do it myself. Did one of you...

According to the website, you can also have a receiver moved to another room that this refurb is replacing for free. Sweet. I may have them move my bedroom one upstairs to the game room. edit: just placed my order.

A Couple of New DVR Photo's

nice. They talk about the 2 network ports. I have a feeling that is for the HMC support, streaming shows over ethernet. Q2 2006 release with a $99 cost to current customers. I can't wait. I didn't get into HD before they turned Dallas on with MPEG4 so I won't get the free deal.

    Dallas LiL.. No ABC?

You know, ABC in Dallas is generally bad on SD. I have signal dropouts and pixellation many times, especially during football games and their big shows like Desperate Housewives. The picture/sound will completely blank for a few seconds. The dropouts have been happening for at least a month...

Last of the 12 LiL Markets Are Live!

ahh thanks. Haven't read up in a couple of months. I assumed LiL was HD locals over the dish. Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, I'm totally gonna hang out and wait for the HD DVR and then switch. Hmm, wonder if I could swing them to trade in my Dtivo I have now for an mpeg4 dvr at that...

Last of the 12 LiL Markets Are Live!

I'm in the Dallas area (McKinney). I'm like 49 miles from the towers. Currently only have an SD Dtivo and another regular receiver. With MPEG4 going live in Dallas, how will I get my locals in HD? Do those come over the dish or are they OTA and I'll need an antenna? I really don't want to...

Need some help with my R10

Activation only takes a couple of minutes. Take your receiver to a friend's house and do it from there. Just hook it up to the tv/phoneline and boot up. Run the guided setup or whatever to activate. Friend of mine has a tivo SA and didn't have a landline at all. He came over to my place...

Sending DVR recording to another room

Look for the One For All URC 9910. Runs $60 at best buy or cheaper on the net. It comes with an RF commander that receives RF and will blast your IR to your receiver. Run the RF Out (To TV coax) from the R10 to your second room. Use the composite video and anlalog audio connections from the...

Hi, I'm thinking of switch from E* to DirecTV.

oh and just leave all your equipment hooked up until the installers get there. They will reuse your mast from the old equipment and the lines. You can remove your receivers if you want when they get there so they don't mess anything up if you have them hooked to a audio receiver or something...

Hi, I'm thinking of switch from E* to DirecTV.

As far as I know, PIP is not supported. You might be able to do it through your tv itself by using the coax out and the component/svideo out and analog audio to your tv. I have not tested this but I just might try it this weekend. Yes, you will need an extra line for each dual tuner. Run...

Issue with dual LNBs and TiVo

Also, instead of hitting the Directv/Tivo button, there is a LiveTV button or you can hit the down arrow to switch tuners.
