    Travelling with my directv

So what does the 5 get that the 3 won't? That looks the same as this one, yes? Directv Sl3 Slimline 4out Ka/ku Slim Line LNB (Sl3)

    Travelling with my directv

Crap, ok I guess I'll order one. If I get an sl5 so I get local HD channels, do I have to have a power inverter or a sup or can I just direct cable to the receiver? This is the one I was thinking about: KaKu LNB 5 for Slimline Dish Directv Brand

Both of them only have a single port.

    Travelling with my directv

I have two LNBs, one is a swm, the other is not. However, I don't have a power inserter. I am wondering however if the non-swm LNB is faulty cuz I ain't getting anything.

    Travelling with my directv

I think I'm about to give up. I've set it up as 3 lnb, multi switch, elevation and tilt set to what the receiver says and azimuth set at 215 according to a compass on my phone. If I go to singal meters I get nothing, even slowly changing azimuth in both directions in case my compass is off. I've...

    Travelling with my directv

In the satellite setup, if I'm using a sl3, what do I put as switch type. Do I set to multi-switch since this is not a swim LNB? If so, I don't have to have a 4x4 switch do I? Straight coax to receiver? Thanks!

    Travelling with my directv

Ok, I think I've refreshed my memory. Azimuth it's rotation on the pole. Elevation is up and down angle. Tilt is the vertical rotation of the dish. The remaining question is do I go with what that site says or what my menu says. I'm guessing my menu.

    Travelling with my directv

The settings on that site are not close to what the receiver shows are correct. The site shows: Elevation: 51.1° Azimuth (true): 193.1° Azimuth (magn.): 198.3° LNB Skew [?]: 11.0° The settings from the menu show: Azimuth: 215° Elevation: 48° Tilt: 64° So, what do I go with?

    Travelling with my directv

I think I've absolutely lost my mind since it's been so long since I've done this. I found the settings in the menu which shows azimuth, elevation and tilt. Which adjustments are each of those? I've gone brain dead!!!

    Travelling with my directv

I went to that site and it gives azimuth but not tilt and rotation.

    Travelling with my directv

I'm going in a hunting trip this weekend close to home and am taking a spare slimline dish and HD DVR receiver with me. I've done this before and been able to point it correctly to get all of my HD network and local channels with strong signals. However, I can't remember how I figured out using...

    Taking my satellite while travelling

It's not that I necessarily want to be dead on, I just want the blasted locals to come on.

    Taking my satellite while travelling

After working on it some more using the adjusters, this is what I have. Keep in mind I have no meter but I am wondering if this shows hope if I did have one. I am still getting searching for satellite however on locals.

    Taking my satellite while travelling

So even though the 99 and 103 sats are getting a LITTLE strength, that doesn't mean there is hope to dial them in.

    Taking my satellite while travelling

I just looked at the bubble level on top of the mast without pulling the dish off and it is dead on the money. So, the question is, how do I begin to tweak what I have?
  17. B

    Taking my satellite while travelling

The bubble level in the top showed it dead on the money when I mounted it and this is what I have for the 101. Do you think I still need to pull it off the mast to check it or just tweak what I have. See below:

    Taking my satellite while travelling

Well crap, that means I was tweaking for the wrong 99 then I gues. Does the S stand for South I take it? OK, new screen shot attached.

    Taking my satellite while travelling

See the attachment in my last post that shows the strength for all transponders.

    Taking my satellite while travelling

I tried that to no avail. Last night I was looking at signal meters when telling you what I was getting on the 99 and 103. Since obviously that is an average, I figured it may be helpful to post screen shots of what the strength is for the individual transponders. Look at my attachment to see...

Well I repeated satellite setup. No go. I then hit the reset button to no avail. Man this blows!!!!

    Taking my satellite while travelling

Uh oh, "I'm kinda at a loss" sounds like you're giving up. Don't give up!!! Never say die. I am guessing you are an installer. Call a comrad and see if they have ideas. I'm gonna re-run setup now. Should I do it with it set first to show all channels or will it not matter?
  23. B

    Taking my satellite while travelling

Yes I did do repeat satellite setup. I could do it again I suppose if you think it would help. That was where I confirmed it was still set with my slimline and multi-switch and kept hitting continue.

Locals won't come at all. I get Speed HD. Is that a good example to answer your question?

    Taking my satellite while travelling

I may have just answered the last question about slimline 3. I guess if it is only showing 99-101-103, that means it is a 3 lnb.
