    Thanks Dish for no GolTv

Considering about 3 people in the U.S. watch soccer, the price they wanted dish to pay probably wasn't worth it, lol.

    1080p changed to 1080i

Note, you can do 1080p via component cables too, without worrying about HDCP or handshake, etc., but note not many TV's support it. (My Pio Plasma does)

    nashville hd locals

All the more reason to have that OTA tuner hooked up. :)

Fox Sports Southwest and the many versions

Then the rules are retarded. We don't have an NBA team here, so IMO why the hell can't I watch any team in TX? You're likely right though...

Fox Sports Southwest and the many versions

What irks me is they (FSSW) black out Mavericks games here in Austin, which is freaking retarded.

    Houston on the Move?

While Austin's HD locals are on 61.5, I don't think we are officially an EA city; right now they're splitting us, using 110/119/61.5; requires two dishes. I pick up 61.5 great in Austin, so it would be at least as good if not better in Houston.

From D* to Dish last week...DVR confusing.

Put down that crack pipe and slowly back away...

my switch from dish to direct

I switched to Dish from DTV recently, and I'd pretty much agree with you on your points. The features of the VIP622 and 722 are worth the switch to me; the PIP and split screen are just something I use constantly and worth their weight in gold to me.

What is the future of dish network ?

110 getting a poor signal in TX? Say what? Man that satellite about burns down my LNB it comes in so strong, lol.

    Upgrade to HD-DVR

How much it will cost you to upgrade depends on your current situation; if you are still on a contract, how long since your last upgrade, etc. It could be as low as $50, but could be more, just depends. If you replace the 211 with a DVR, you will add a $6 DVR fee per month, which is waived on...

Dish - 4th Place in HD

My dad has TWC with their latest HD DVR, and my best friend has Suddenlink HD DVR; using both I feel like I'm going back in time 10 years compared to my Dish and VIP 722; there's no way in hell I'd switch to one of those. I can't get either FIOS or U-Verse, so moot to me. (As to a huge...

    722 and wireless ETH

^^^ I 2nd the suggestion to use a powerline homeplug device over wireless client; I've tried multiple times to use wireless bridges and the receivers go offline all the time (after seemingly being "fine"), very unreliable.

    WFNHD

I'm sure the other three people watching this channel love the new HD too. ;)

Losing Signal on HD channels from 129

Wow, I bitched when they put my HD locals on 61.5, forcing me to get a wing dish... now I'm glad they did. That said, I did get 129 rock solid way down in TX.

Receiver resets, HDTV turns on in the middle of the night.

You can set your 722 to update any time you wish; it defaults to like 3am because usually no one is watching, but if you want to change it to 7am, go right ahead. You can set it for noon if you want. Just means your receiver will update it's guide, and reboot at 7am instead of 3am. It will...

    dish pro plus switches

    Yes, I have a DPP33 (receiving 110, 119, and 61.5) driving a 622, 722, and 510; works great.

Speed HD - just a whine...

Yeah, some HD on 110, but it's all old legacy stuff isn't it? No way we'll know until they light them up I guess. :) Like you said, if they switch over to MPEG4 on everything that opens up some space.

VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

One channel I surprisingly miss from VOOM is the Family channel HD they had; it was amazing how good Flipper looked, and that show was from the 60's/70's time frame! I loved watching that in much higher quality than it ever was when I was a kid. Hell it looked better than some current HD stuff!

Speed HD - just a whine...

Doubtful, I think most new HD goes on 129 or 61.5, right?

Wish List of DVR Features - Next SW Upgrade

Why do you have a 3 minute lead in? I find VERY few shows that need any lead-in whatsoever. I have that set to zero. Some need a minute or two extension on the end, but I don't find myself ever needing lead-in.

How Dish's 1080p is going to work...

This is kinda old, but I didn't see anyone address this issue, so I will. The component outputs are NOT blocked, and in fact send 1080p just fine. At least on both my 622 and 722. Now not many TV's will accept a 1080p signal via component, but the VIP receiver DOES output it. My Pioneer Kuro...

Wish List of DVR Features - Next SW Upgrade

A few I'd love to see (in addition to all the wonderful ones already mentioned): The option to have the receiver turn OFF the output when the unit is turned off. My TV, and most have the capablity to turn off automatically if they don't receive a signal for a certain period of time, but my...

    Satellite preference?

When I added a wing dish for 61.5 HD locals, the installer removed entirely the LNB for 129 on my Dish 1000.1. It works great. You can do that if you have an older 1000, but obviously not with the newer ones.

DISH NETWORK EXPANDS LOCAL HIGH DEFINITION MARKETS

I somewhat disagree with the OTA statement. I was receiving all local HD via OTA until recently, and upgraded to HD Locals via satellite (Austin, TX.) It's MUCH nicer having HD locals on satellite, because when receiving only OTA you have a SINGLE HD tuner to record them. If you want to record...

Can you recommend an OTA antenna? Say from Circuit City or Best Buy?

I've tried many OTA antennas over the years, and the best, by FAR, I've used for OTA HD is the Radio Shack model U-75R, catalog number 15-2160. I would post a link on their site, but this forum won't let me until I've got 15 posts. You can search and find it at radioshack.com. I have this...
