    Al Jazeera now widescreen

Just to post an update, decided to check AJE this morning and something has changed, the Solaris is displaying the video. However the box freezes if any on screen displays come up. Very weird. Seems it still doesn't like the widescreen feed to much.

Smallest dish for C band in upper midwest/Iowa

Thanks for the replies, you have given me some ballpark sizes, and sadly confirmed my suspicion 10 feet is probably too big. The tower is for ham radio operation, but may come down next spring since due to the layout of my lot there is a point on my roof actually higher than the top of the...

Smallest dish for C band in upper midwest/Iowa

So I think I may need to get involved in C band for the true FTA experience. Can anyone offer some suggestions on what the smallest dish I could get by with for decent C band performance would be? I have a small lot and not even sure that I have a good view so I don't want to get a lot of...

Is KU FTA circling the drain?

Wish I could get this at my house, but I have to choose between 97 and 95... 97 just has more.

Is KU FTA circling the drain?

    Yeah I think it's on 95W

Is KU FTA circling the drain?

CCTV is not on 97W that I am aware of.

    Al Jazeera now widescreen

This would explain why I have been having video trouble with AJE for the month of October. My nFusion Solaris apparently can't handle the widescreen video, the picture jumps every second and looks squished. Any suggestions for replacement FTA boxes? I only have a 80cm dish pointed at 97w but...

    adding 5th tv.

Wow, if it can, not easily. I've used a splitter on the end of a diplexers VHF/UHF leg to allow me to combine Off-Air and the backfeed, but this didn't work very well due to the high isolation of the splitter... Adding Cable TV into the mix doesn't sound possible to me... maybe an expert can...

For the 2nd time I'm a few days late on my bill and..

Dish has done this to me before too. I used to have autopay, but then they "accidentally" double charged my account. I called them the same day, and they managed to get it straightened out -- but it took them 20 days to get the money back in my account. And guess what? I didn't call them 3...

dish customer service at its best!!!

I guess I don't get what the big deal is. Obviously their putting a note in your account, do you think the billing subsystem reads notes on the account? No, it expects that for things like that you call in and have it done by hand. My time is pretty valuable, but I don't think doing a web...

The Dish April 1st New HD Saga (Merged Threads)

Yeah I have to agree, this deal seems a little close to April Fools but what the heck, sign me up too! I'm getting a 922 either way.

HD Available in Cedar Rapids, IA

It appears that I am within coverage of the following spotbeams: Spotbeam 18 Spotbeam 19 Spotbeam 23 Spotbeam 24 Spotbeam 28 Spotbeam 29 ?? How do I tell what is on those beams?

HD Available in Cedar Rapids, IA

I live in zipcode 52404, and my local NBC affiliate went to VHF, which means I can no longer pick it up. In the past, I "moved" to Chicago to get Chicago locals on 129, but I think I've heard that those moved to spotbeam. Are there any locals on 129 that would be available in my area that I...

Who do I need to complain to about my SD channels being centercut?

I think this is the broadcasters. I noticed many of them are placing their station bug right on the edge of where a 4:3 TV would display, with a little "HD" logo next to that. I'm guessing that stations are converting from an "also HD" to a primary HD format, and just continuing to feed the...

upgrading to HD, but not really

I've used SDTV connected to both TV1 and TV2 outputs on my 722 without any issue. Deep in the menus there is an option to sync TV1s audio to HD output or SD output, you need to change that otherwise you might have a tiny bit of lipsync issue. Otherwise, it will work fine.

    Multi-Dish Installation

This was already kinda answered, but yes this will work fine. If either of the boxes are VIP, they will still be able to communicate through the powerline. Otherwise, you will need to have them all connected to phone to dial out. If they're NOT VIP disregard that completely. But no matter...

Wildblue internet and linux speed tweak

First of all, you're in the wrong forum. Second of all, that wouldn't do anything to your speed. You're just using another set of DNS servers, which in all probability are slower to respond then those of WildBlue that are within their network.

HBO to offer Obama Inauguration for Free

Face it. These people are so out of touch with reality that they thought that someone who lives close to Russia is a foreign policy expert due to the proximity to the country. They're bitter that they lost, and they'll take every opportunity to remind us that they don't approve of this...

    Who calls DiggersHotline?

No, but I don't wave a gun around. You never answered if they were in the utility easement, which I must assume they were. Therefore they weren't "invadds" your property at all, they were doing something which they legally had the right to do. And where did I say I fear anyone with 'dark...

One of our good neighbors has experienced a Tragedy !

I very carefully worded my response, knowing that some people are overly sensitive about these things. I don't see how coming on here asking for cash donations is so innocent. But, then again, I've only got a few posts under my belt, I'm not a "pub" member, so I probably should keep my trap...

    Who calls DiggersHotline?

You really think a utility company digging in your back yard is grounds to start "waving a gun around"? I'm just curious. In most states you could have been arrested for that, you know. And, even if not, some random workers, who may or may not have been legally in this country, could very...

One of our good neighbors has experienced a Tragedy !

Edit: This post was moved from the Dish network forum to the Chit-Chat club, so my comment seems extremely out of place now. I am therefore editing it and leaving this apology in its place. Sorry if I offended anyone, I just feel that there are a lot of sad things that happen in this world...

    Uplink Activity Report - 11/13/2008 4:02pm - 15 changes

Although this is a bit off topic, my favorite channel is Science HD which I'd need AT250 to get, which means that it be something like $80/mo, plus its horribly compressed. The downloads from iTunes / Hulu are at least 480p.

    Uplink Activity Report - 11/13/2008 4:02pm - 15 changes

Holy crap! You're kidding me. I've been paying 99 cents each day to watch the Colbert Report on iTunes. I had no idea they were on Hulu. Even better, Hulu is not blocked at my work... iTunes Music Store is!

    Uplink Activity Report - 11/13/2008 4:02pm - 15 changes

They could upconvert the SD feed to HD so that I would at least get it. There are a handful of channels that are basically "essential" for any subscriber. Comedy Central is one, CNN is another. They could do something like what CNBC does; they don't have any HD programming themselves. They...
