To the first part of your post, if you have a HD rec and OTA locals you can connect the coax to the rec and scan them in and they will be on the guide. To the 2nd part we are aware of the effect pulling chns has, we hear it all day long, they prepare us in the call centers ahead of time. But...

So basically along w/ what everyone else is saying is Dish gives you the choice. Do you wanna go OTA and save $5? or Do you want to subscribe thru Dish? You decide.
