Before the end of the year, the slimline will be the only dish installed. BYE-BYE 18"

    Help with install.... please

If the Lnb does not fix it see if they have a H21 receiver to plug in and check the signal strength with. You may just have a software glitch on the HR21.

D* constant signal loss 4-6 pm every day???

What is different at you house between four and six. Are different tv's being watched at that time. Are you turning on different appliances. They are rare instances that an auxillary device runs enough current through the house ground to cause a problem. There are endless possibilities. May...

    Apartment Install...need helpful suggestions.

Usually for an apartment you can use flat wire through the window. I use perfect-10 2" non-pen mounts and they have the mast assembled at the end not the middle of the mount and it stand 36" tall. I know I pay $42.99 each for the mount and $10 for blocks so I usually charge $80 for the entire...

    DirecTV installation

As an installer, if time permits I let the customer walk me through what all he wants done. After he explains in detail I let him know what is included in the install and how much it is going to cost for everything else. Most installers get paid per job not per hour. You burn into their time...

    Sat Signal Meter

Try the accutrac II or digisat. Both are cheap digital meters that will get the job done. Just Attenuate the signal through the meter if you max out the signal readout.

    newbie D* intall

As far as the 103a goes it will generally fail, you have to select continue fix later. Once it downloads what it needs it will be fine. Here lately HR21's have been having fits with the signal meter. Try an H21 in it's place just to check signal strength if you are sure that you dithered the...

DTV wants me to pay for tech. Will this work?

One of the ten pillars of economics is that nothing is free. What you essentially are wanting to do is hire someone to do a job and then tell him you are not going to pay for the work performed. Trust me on this one just pay the monthly $5.99 protection plan. Talk to your parents and ask...

DTV wants me to pay for tech. Will this work?

Just pay for the tech to come out or pay for the plan. It might not be a bad idea to have the plan anyways.

directv and dish network rumored to be in merger talks!!!

The "Merger" if it takes place would not mean a price hike. They are still competing with Cable, Fios, and telephone companies for price. If they were to join and lets say use all of the transponders on Spaceway 1&2, ditch echostar, and combine equipment technologies they would be able to cut...

Will the Dish VIP722 work with Direct TV?

Soon satellite will be a matter or whose name is on it. Dish will soon catch up to DTV on HD. Personally I like Dish equipment better, but DTV has them on HD, Sports, and other small programming advantages.

    Satelite Installation Question

Stucco is not a good mounting surface. This is a fairly big dish that catches a lot of wind. I would recommend a pole mount or and under eave mount if possible. DTV will usually carry the pole mounts but not very often will they have other options. You may want to look online for under eave...

    HR20 - No 99 signal

I would have an independant agent come out and align the dish instead of waiting a month. They may be the same price as what DTV is going to charge you

    Question about signal strength

If it is a HR21 you signal meter may not read right. Either way you should be fine

    Directv Just surprised me

I would say wait and see what DTV does with HDDVR's and check in on Tivo and see how the SWM situation turns out first.

Will a D* installer put the dish anywhere you want?

Some guys will carry everything necessary. I would get some fast setting concrete if I were you. Usaully runs 6-8 dollars a bag, but it dries in 30-45 minutes. I have seen many of the guys drive poles in with no cement and if they do you will have problems with it moving.

    New installation problems HELP

I am a professional installer and have been doing Directv for four years. I use the Accutrac III and dither the Slimline on the ka bands and always had 95 or higher on the 99 and 103 sats. I have never had a problem until recently when the new software took effect. According to the receiver I...
