    Question about temporarily disconnecting equipment...

Ditto, I have a 622 in a remote area of my house and I drag a phone line out to it every 2-3 weeks and I have been avoiding the fee. I always intend to do the phone line and call outs weekly but never keep it that punctual. To the OP, a week is nothing to fret over. Acer

Some boxes Won't BET in HD

+1. Same here. I did the online chat and they did whatever they do, I now have Speed, BET, FX and maybe others I should have had weeks ago. I know Speed and FX among others were yesterday or at least very recent. Acer

    Np FX or Speed HD

I'm afraid you're wrong on that, Mitch. I have been with DISH since May 1999, never been late, never had any issues like this, no Speed HD or FX HD for me either. AEP and Platinum HD for 24 months and previously all new HD and sd channels showed up with no intervention. Maybe you should know...

    Avoid receiver lease fee?

Yeah, he should go to a retirement home and teach a technology class or better yet, answer questions on a tech support line for seniors. I've been there brother. Acer

Need some help for locals carried on Dish Network.

You could always re-aim the wing dish yourself. To find and peak just that one satellite isn't too difficult. I'm a Joe do-it myselfer and have peaked 2 Dish 1000's and a Superdish for family without use of an in-hand meter. You can do it.

Why no Columbus OH WBNS (CBS Ch 10) HD (and PBS too)?

I agree with the not wanting to spend any more dough. Unfortunately for you the terrain is just a bit hilly where you are if I remember correctly. The deck is stacked against you for OTA reception. FWIW, Jerry and Andrea look way old in HD. Acer

    Digital Transition Footprints

+1. The site was sooooo wrong on my location. I get a 100% signal 24/7 without failure on 3 stations the site says I shouldn't even be able to get at all. Then I can't detect 2-3 stations it says I should get some of the strongest signals from. I appreciate the OP's intention, thank you. For...

Why no Columbus OH WBNS (CBS Ch 10) HD (and PBS too)?

You mean you heard that the SD of 10TV will be off of Dish in Sept??? I wanted to mention to the OP that I am 60 miles form the 10TV transmitter and I pick them up with little problem. Due to geography and station power, I can only receive WCMH, WBNS and WOSU via my OTA. WSYX and WTTE I can't...

Which dual receiver would you BUY...

Your association must allow you to install an antenna per federal ruling. Whether you want to fight for it(or look at it) or not is the question but they cannot disallow it. Someone here has posted the FCC's actual rule or a link to it but I can't remember where. It's likely in the HD OTA forum...

    Increase recording capasity?

Yep. You pay $40 one time for the privilege. Make sure the drive you buy has it's own power supply and is not multiple drives bridged together. Look on this site for the list of drives that will work.

    In Defense of Dish Network

yeah, he's a f**king novelist. Word! That was for me, just like reading a book and I hate books but his content was better. It just needed to be........... shorter. If it was a technical paper, then I could read it all. Acer

Did the Toledo OH HD Locals get turned on?

That's weird, do you subscribe to any of the locals. I'm in the most NW corner of the Columbus DMA(I subscribe to the locals), I use an antenna to pull the networks from Toledo, Columbus, Detroit, Lima and I have the guide info for all and PBS of the Toledo stations. Lima is no guide info and...

Local Channels OTA on what Transmit?

Yep, plug your locale into TVfool and see what stations are available and it will give you the "real" channel numbers and you can plug the "real" channel into the the add locals feature you've found and then you can tell if it's receivable. Acer

    Hard Drive Bargain Watch

Seagate does have a 1.5TB single drive offered as an internal, I could only speculate that this external could contain a single physical drive. Good advice dlsnyder and also note the externals must have their own power source which this line of Freeagents does have in order to work with the...

    Howard Stern/ Charlie Ergan

It's the personal preference thing, you know, I prob don't like MOST of the shows you watch, I'll presume they are gearhead types, can't lie, I watch that $hit, too. Don't forget, there are a lot of people who think we are stupid for not just taking what TV we can get OTA, hmm. To each is own...

    Big Game on NBC Glittchy

VIP222 is an HD receiver, 61.5 is a satellite that carries mostly if not only HD content and satellites are called "birds" for short. I had the same glitches on the Super Bowl broadcast through my antenna directly onto my TV set without going through my receiver. That being said, like Pepper...

Long time Dish customer, but I'm confused!

If your 508 is dying anyway, you could take it off of the account, then you could avoid the $7 fee on the 622. As long as you could get the TV2 output to the daughter's room, you'd be able to save a few bucks. That obviously doesn't get HD to your daughter and I'm presuming that you don't...

If you could pick a DMA to live in

Yeah folks, the boundary isn't always perfect. I am geographically closer to my assigned DMA but prefer my newspapers and news from the one that is a shorter drive, hence the one I go to and give a flip about. Another note, I cannot receive an NBC through DISH that is half the distance of my DMA...

    Buying Receiver Fees?

Like harshness stated, the additional receiver fee for the 622/722 is $7, not the $5 he is currently paying on the 322. If I remember right, my owned 622 was first listed on my account as a lease but I corrected DISH and they then said, OK, it's now an HD access fee of $7. They'll cram you for...

What can a 722 do without service?

I had a 622 I left inactive but hooked to a set for a while. I did watch stuff from my DVR , EHD did not work and I did not have my OTA plumbed to it so I cannot answer that. You will get the annoying notice about no signal, though. I wish I had the OTA hooked up so I could answer for you. I...

DISH FIRST TO OFFER TV SERIES IN 1080P RESOLU

There are some areas where Time Warner is already capping bandwidth on RR customers, only the high usage ones of course. First the companies rape us for broadband relative to the cost in other parts of the world and now they want to control how much we use it. All because they don't want to...

Any tips before I sign up?

Not with a 622/722 or the 722K??? Maybe I missed something but I can't record more than a single OTA program at a time. Unless you were going to rebuild your computer setup and record 3 OTA at a time, the 622/722 will not allow this. Like I said, if I missed or am missing something, I...

    Questions about buying a 722

Somehow maybe Dish lets them loose and cough, cough, wink, wink, they're in the filed drawing income on the programming which is where Dish makes their real money. I bought my 622 on eBay 26 months ago and no call from Dish to get it back when I deactivated it for a month to remodel. These...
