    Switching from 722 to Hopper

Using the 722 for several years, have lots of recordings on the EHD. We have 2 TVs: TV_1 is a 52" Panasonic Plasma; TV_2 is a 42" Samsung "smart" LCD. The 722 has been working fine for us except HD is not available on the Samsung. It seems we can plug our present EHD into the Hopper and access...

Is it my external drive or is this just the way the Hopper 3 works?

Do not have a Hopper yet, thinking of migrating from my VIP722. btw, the EHD on the 722 does go to sleep, but wakes up normally after I try to access it after a short pause. I think both systems are linux based and can handle a sleeping HDs. IMO it must be a minor glitch in the Hopper software.

Thanks, also an additional question! Thanks, everyone for the info. Before I switched from Comcast, I got their HD box just to see how it looked and we loved CSI and a few others that were in HD; great picture and sound! My current TV1 is a 34" HD Panasonic with 4:3 aspect. It's a transition...

How do I get Dolby 5.1 on my 522 DVR?

I just switched from Comcast Cable to SBC Dish (EchoStar) and wonder if I can receive Dolby Digital sound on my 522 receiver. I have a Sony DE 585 A/V receiver connected to the 522 with a digital audio (optical) cable. The 522 is set for PMC or Dolby Digital. It seems that most broadcasts...
