    VIP612 issues

Just some updates: Per the suggestion of another poster here, I changed my remote to IR (somewhat counter-intuitively by flipping over the tab to the black "UHF" side) and it SEEMS that the issues with occasional non-responsiveness are gone (that is, so long as I am pointing the remote AT the...

    VIP612 issues

The video stutter seems to be a new thing (I was out of town for a couple of weeks) whereas the unit has always had occasional audio stutter and the issues with the remote not being responsive. The video stutter appears to be related to the amount of motion in the scene -- a camera pan shot...

    VIP612 issues

I've had a VIP 612 receiver since September (hooked to a 1000.2 dish) and it's been "quirky" since new. I've attributed the issues to software problems (I've got L602) but recently things have gotten bad enough that I'm wondering if it's the unit itself. The unit becomes unresponsive to the...

    Signal Strength

I get signal strengths in the mid-high 70's on 110 & 119 and 50s (and below) on 129. This is with a Dish 1000.2 & clear line of sight. Numbers are identical on both my 501 and 612 and are the same as when I had just a Dish 500 and a 501 & 301 (obviously no 129 on that one). Seems you've got...

Time to transfer archive to external HD (VIP612)

My mistake -- it was about 120GB, not 50GB. So the transfer rate is around 4MB/s -- still an order of magnitude below theoretical, but better. Transfers in the other direction take just as long -- I assume it has to do the same re-encryption to put it back on the VIP612's hard drive?

Time to transfer archive to external HD (VIP612)

Just hooked up an external hard drive to my VIP612 receiver. Activated the hard drive, etc. and went to transfer (archive) the recordings on my receiver to the external drive. Everything seems to be working but the system says it will take approximately 9 hours to transfer what is about 50GB...

    Odd issue with 1000.2 alignment

I'd make sure your receiver is hooked to port #1, power cycle the receiver, and then run a "check switch" so that it can get the matrix all right. Then point the dish at 119 and see what happens. Bet that fixes it.

    Dish 1000.2 / Acutrak 22 pro question

I'm not comparing absolute readings. I'm comparing where the peak signal strength occurs. The Acutrak isn't able to discriminate individual transponders but rather just looks at the aggregate signal strength coming from the satellite. Again, the situation is as to where the peak signal...

    Dish 1000.2 / Acutrak 22 pro question

I recently upgraded my old 501 PVR and Dish 500 dish with a 612 HD DVR and Dish 1000.2 dish. I'd originally done my own installation eight years ago and had no trouble replacing the old 500 dish with the new 1000.2 dish this time around. I used the receiver's signal meter to peak the signal...
