Unplug your Hopper, wait 30 seconds, re plug the Hopper and let it restart. Might be a transient software glitch that rebooting fixes. That's always the first thing to do when Dish hardware goes wonky.

I have seen in the past if your recording starts before Dish switches to the feed of the program on, it never switches. So, I have to start one minute+ late.

I also believe the bolts on a 1000.4 are wider apart at the top than near the lnb arm, so It's probably a 1000.2.

MPEG2 means it is useless. IIRC Dish has gone to MPEG4 on all sats. It is an old SD satellite receiver.

Hopper 3 is hardly a decent boat anchor unless you fill it with cement. Then it is still questionable as a successful anchor.

To "toggle" between two channels you have to record both of them. Pause when you are going to switch. That "saves" the buffer as a recording, then you can jump back and forth, hopefully it will resume where you paused it.

I presume you are changing inputs either on the TV or your sound system. That points to a problem with the device where the input change occurs because it sounds like you are not making any changes on the Hopper. Try unplugging and reconnecting the HDMI cable next time the audio drops out...
