So I just did the "cancel... cancel..." bit. Made sure I wasn't auto-renewing for anything from last year, and gave the CSR a story about having a young kid, diapers, trying to convince wife, etc... Got the MAX package for 4x$36. Not bad. I took it.

Hah. Yes. I know. As I said, it's good feature to have, but needs a better implementation. Having just the options of 2 hours or Off isn't all that great. So more people will just put it on Off.

Okay. I can see this power saving feature as being really annoying. While the intentions are great, the 2 hour shut off isn't. Was watching football and wasn't paying attention when the prompt came up, but it just turned off my box. So, either there needs to be an adjustable time to turn off, or...

Bah! Live a little! No risk, no reward! I've downloaded plenty of CEs when they were labeled high risk, and never really had a problem. They are usually "very high" when they add some wacky new feature.. in this case, it's the energy saver function. Not sure how that's going to work on the...

I just did it tonight, too, and it took forever to find the update. Searched for a good 10-15 minutes before my HR21 and my H22s found the 058C and 048C.

A couple of points... With all the apps that stream from the network and premium channels (NBC, HBO2Go, etc...) it seems silly to get the Nomad when these apps stream from anywhere. Also, at $150 for the device, I could just buy all the shows I watch from iTunes.

So is it also kicking in another 2-year commitment?

Anyone else noticing the Sunday Ticket channels causing their boxes to freeze? I have a H21-200 and watching any of the channels for a minute or two cause it to lockup. Reset is the only thing to fix it. DirecTV's forums and Twitter account (@DirecTVService) seem to admit there is a problem.

I was hoping for another deal like that sweet one some of us got last year, which basically netted MLB EI for free. Unfortunately, I don't think $150 is worth it. I watched MLB EI plenty of times last year, but not enough to warrant paying that much.

Despite the rain fade, I still love DirecTV. It's far better than Uverse, which is nothing more than a glorified DSL line. Uverse can't handle more than 2 HD streams into the house and they compress the heck out of the HD signal that comes over the pipe.

It probably won't record or playback either. You're going to have to go back to the NR.

Well, I went the email path and got MRV back. Still kind of stinks we have to pay $3/month extra for it. But, my wife and I are hooked on being able to watch recorded shows in the other rooms of our house, so we'll pay.

Glad you got the deal, too, Talljoel. It's a pretty sweet deal, and I've only had DirecTV for a little more than a year. I'm hoping that by watching all these games I can finally have a decent fantasy baseball team this year. Hah.
