    Is HD-DVD loosing their footing?

I gotta tell ya man, I've really been pessimistic about HD-DVD lately but your post really has me thinking positively again. It seemed that every time I turned around, every movie that I wanted to buy was BD only. I thought I might have to break down and buy a Sony  product (PS3)... Not...

    HD DVR (soliciting your thoughts)

I've had the HR20 since October and absolutely love it... I'm a TiVO owner since the original standalone TiVO and while the HR20 is an adjustment, it's still a great piece of equipment... I would go straight to retention and not bother with a regular CSR...

    Driving the HD DVD Juggernaut.

A lot of people believe that one of the big reasons that VHS beat out Beta was because the pr0n industry embraced VHS... I don't know how valid that is but google it and you'll see. As big as the pr0n industry is, does anyone really think that a "war" involving all of the big Hollywood...

Ok I got the HD DVD add on and

Batman Begins and Mission Impossible 3 are supposedly really nice looking -- I haven't seen either though.

    Directv new channel God TV

See, I'm not that impressed with free Wii's. I can afford one of those. If he gave us free PS3s, I'd camp out overnight for one of those. What? Dr Bob said free WILL... oh... well then nevermind...

    MPEG4 HD Locals HDLite?

My locals in the Tampa market look good but they have a strange cinematic kind of motion at times. I can't quite put my finger on what it is but something looks a little bit off compared to OTA.

New HR-20 DVR 19.99 From Directv

I called this morning and got the HR20. The rep originally said that it would be a $99 swap out fee for my owned HR10 but I told her that it was promised for free a week earlier (that rep noted the account). She put me on hold for a minute and came back and said they would honor that promise so...

Help! Neighbor wants to steal my signal!

Woah but then HE would be stealing the signal and have to call the FBI to turn himself in! :)

    Antenna In Attic

This is more curiosity than anything. :) I have an antenna in the attic that picks up my OTA HD signals relatively well. I have one signal that is marginal. When my car is in the garage and the garage is shut, I usually get decent signal. If my car is not in the garage or the garage...

    Blocking Unwanted Channels

I stand corrected but that's wild. I'm obsessive about my channel lists and I've never seen that happen. I've owned the DSR6000, the DSR7000 and the HR10-250! Maybe it's a procedure thing. I generally go to my "channels I receive" list and delete all channels. Then I manually go in and add...

Guess what...NBA time and still no TNTHD

I'd take HD NCAA football over HD NBA anyday so it would have been an easy decision for me... :)

    Blocking Unwanted Channels

I must respectfully disagree... I've been using DirecTivos since the DSR6000 (almost 5 years). I've never had any of the channels that I've removed from "channels that I recieve" list come back. It has always worked flawlessly.

So... how many days since last daily call?

I'll buy when I hit 1000!! Or will I have MPEG4 by then and have to change out the dsr6000 and start over? :yes

    I reached 775 today. Woohoo! :)

I use one of those successfully every day with DSL. Just plug the filter into the wall jack and then a cord from the base unit into the filter.

    Detroit MPEG4 HD Now Online!

While I agree that not everyone can install the dish and I am speaking without seeing the new dish, there are some of us that are capable of installing equipment like this ourselves. I originally installed my first round dish without any trouble whatsoever. First on my deck and later on my...

    DirecTV MPEG4 Rollout to begin

You probably wouldn't want to upgrade at this point but some of us can't get the big 4 via OTA... it's certainly worth it to me! :) I'm SIXTY miles from the CBS tower... UGH!

    DirecTV MPEG4 Rollout to begin

Will current equipment work with the new dish? I realize that it won't be able to decode MPEG4 channels but will I be able to use the new dish to continue to use my HDTivo until the MPEG4HDDVR is available yet at the same time receive HD locals using the new HD stb?

    DirecTV MPEG4 Rollout to begin

I'm in #12 and have that same thought. I just got an HR10-250 last weekend and know that I won't get HDDVR goodness for a while when MPEG4 comes out but I left my non-DVR HD box active (moved it to a SD TV in my house) and deactivated an old RCA box just in case!

Does your Tivo think you're... gay?!? :)

That was exactly the point of the post... they did the same sort of thing on "Mind of the Married Man" on HBO. I guess I'm not the paranoid, conspiracy theorist type so that type of thinking never occurred to me...

Would H-10 be an upgrade over hughes E-8?

I don't have any numbers supporting anything but I didn't really see a change in OTA reception going from the E8 to the H10. Signal levels are all around the same area with both receivers.

    Phone Line and Sports Packages

Just my $.02, I have NFL:ST and MLB:EI and I haven't had some of my receivers connected for at least a couple of years. I haven't had any problems at all other than the fact that I can't order PPV with the remote. One lightning strike to the house took out all 5 receivers a few years back...
