    Terrible Service Support

All: Bubba came, realigned the dish and I got signals back now. Although he only charged me $20 for the service, I gave him the $50 I would have had to put out to the Directv service dude, and wished him a Merry Christmas. I would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas, as well. New signal...

    Terrible Service Support

Thanks to all who contributed. Several items: - I don't seem to get SD channels for local like I did with DISH (at least I can't find them in the guide-even on all channels) - I do live on the Northern Neck (at the end, 4 miles from the Bay) and there aren't many people to call for help - I...

    Terrible Service Support

Thanks for the responses! I looked at the signal strengths right after the installation, but I didn't document them. I recall that the 101 bird transponders were all in the high 80s to high 90s. I can't find anything with the installers contact information on it, just the manuals and the...

    Terrible Service Support

I moved over from DISH after ten years to Directv in September because I couldn't get good signal from their satellites for my local channels. We are very rural along the Potomac River at the Chesapeake Bay and can't get locals OTA. I have Directv with HD and Premier package for both receivers...

Ox418 Update Messed up the HR24/200

This morning I noticed that some of the things I had recorded had disappeared from the external hard drive attached to the HR24 and the To Do list had lost several series events set to record, and lost all of the one-time record actions which were set up. It did this within the last two weeks...

    Spotbeam Coverage for Local HD-Help

How do I "move" to the DC DMA? When I first put the dish in here, we had DC locals, then we got a notice that we were moved to the Richmond locals, apparently based on our location. We are one mile from the Maryland line, which gets DC and the next county over gets DC as its locals. What do we...

    Spotbeam Coverage for Local HD-Help

boba: Thanks for the thoughts. I would love to get HD locals over the air, but we are 75 miles from Washington, D.C., and 70 miles from Richmond. With clear LOS and no obstructions it would be difficult. Maybe a bigger dish. I'll see what the rest of the forum thinks before I dive into that pond.

    Spotbeam Coverage for Local HD-Help

I have two dishes, both are 500s. One at the house on a pole with a dual DP Plus type LNB which is pointed at the 110/119 sats. I have another one one 200 feet away (to get a view of 61.5) with a single Dish Pro LNBF. That coax connects back to the dish on the pole. At first I thought that the...

    Spotbeam Coverage for Local HD-Help

We live in Virginia where the Potomac River meets the Chesapeake Bay, and are in the Richmond, VA tv market We had HD installed two years ago, and the local HD signals we receive on the 61.5 sat are consistently around 20 on the signal meter. Whenever there is even a threat of rain, we lose HD...

Welcome New Members! (Please Say HI here!)

Hey, I am a newbie. Hoping to solve a few problems through this site. Hope it works and I get the answers I need. I live in Virginia, and am retired. Original DirecTV subscriber, but turned to Dishnetwork for local channels, which were subsequently changed. Oh well.
