going to FIOS going to fios as soon as my nhl center ice package is finished. my brother just got it last week & is happy getting more channels & better picture for less $$$ (& nothing to buy up front). he was not so happy about having his 942 rendered worthless.

i agree that seems to be the logical choice at this point... you will have subsidized cable rates for 1 year, which should be just about enough time for the current E* insanity to have shaken out -- the marketing geniuses that came up with this 'deal' will have all been replaced by then, terms...

i would agree that most subs have no idea about the upcoming changes -- especially not if they rely on dishnetwork.com for info... click on the equipment upgrades link and you get a choice to lease the 811, 510, 301, 522, or purchase the 942. no mention at all of the 211/611.

by your definition (excepting the international pack) i am the 'kind of sub they want to keep'... and if i didn't have a better alternative, i would grumble about it, but end up paying up and sticking around. in some areas cable *might* actually now be that better alternative... but i now have...

so if the goal is to increase their avg revenue per sub, then losing the "v.o." subs would actually be a good thing for them... however, I doubt that many HD subs fit into this profile... and these are the people most likely to be disgruntled by the latest scheme.

i have no problems with getting the wfaa hd signal in Coppell... rca 10 ft. antenna (home depot special) in attic. the only ota digital channel i have trouble getting is 27, but just thru the 811 -- my integrated sony hd receiver picks that one up ok.
