    Birdog Ka/Ku

Sorry if its a repost. But does anyone know if they are working on 99/103 slots for Ka/Ku tuning on a Birdog. Of course we still can peake these using 101 signals, but it would make it so much easier. Also, anyone have any great tuning tips for Ka/Ku second generation, thats not already on...

What equipment/knowledge do I need to know when building/buying a home?

Heres what I'd do. Run 2 or 3 RG-6 runs to every outlet. Run Cat5 to every outlet as well. As far as speaker wiring its pretty simple. Run all the speaker wire from your speaker locations (Depending on if your doing 5.1 or 7.1) back to where your going to put your entertainment center. 16 guage...

    Proper grounding of pole mount?

Sorry, one more thing. I cant believe your going to get anything but terrible service with a pole that high up with a Ka/Ku. I would make them come back out and bury the pole much lower. IMHO

    Proper grounding of pole mount?

Thats correct. You MUST bond to the same potential as the homes service. Therefore, he needs to run his #17 guage to the block or switch, then connect that to a suitable NEC ground source. Your installer is absolutely incorrect.

    New installer question

What your describing is an Accutrac I believe. You can switch the meter to 22khz, which should allow you to see the 119. Otherwise, a Birdog meter will alert you when you align to a specific sat. Its virtually idiot proof. Hope it helps.

Speed comes with time. Your only 3 weeks in, dont worry about the speed. One thing to remeber is to keep yourself organized. Carry your tools and parts close to your jobsite, so you not going back and forth from your vehicle. I always used to carry a small parts container with everything I...

    Maximum cable length from dish??

Normally, you lose 8db per 100ft of RG-6 cable. If you properly peak your dish, longer length wont be much of an issue. We've ran 140ft with no problems.

    damaged dish

YES YES ABSOLUTELY IT CAN Depending on the severity of the "dings". If the skin is bent to far, it will throw off your signal. Remember, dishes work off of refraction from a skin. Your best bet is to check all the transponders that you should have in your area after install. Now if they truly...
