Ordering new D* account have equipment questions

Why use old boxes when the promo should get you most of the new stuff for free? Also be aware that the base swm setup that is installed is only good for up to 8 tuners. This means that if you get a hr34 5 tuner dvr you can only have 3 other tvs in the house max before having to pay the $600 to...

Attempting to sign up for Directv and tech question and observation

Any good fencing supply store or fencing contractor (not home depot or Lowes) will have all different lengths of 2" OD posts for chain link fencing. I just put up 300ft of 6ft tall chain link around my yard to contain 3 English Mastiffs lol. Posts were all 9ft long total (3ft in the ground)...

    NFL ST for 2012 update

I had the free promo last year, probably going to cancel it this year. My team is local so I get all their games anyway and I really never used it as every huge game gets flexed to Sunday night anyway. Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2

    Switching from Directv to COMCAST!

I have Comcrap for my internet as it is the only game in town since the fios rollout stopped when they were halfway through the neighborhood where I just bought my house. I get about 2mbps down at most with Comcrap performance internet, for the same price with fios where I used to live I once...

I like the Hopper but It seems a little off???

You couldn't access it because you were trying to do 4 things from one hopper. It has 3 tuners and all were already in use. At least that is my understanding. And that selling point of 6 things with 1 hopper is a croc. Technically you can with the ptat using 1 tuner for 4 shows and the...

    HR24 slowness problems

I dunno, my receivers tune much slower than cable or fios did but it isn't terrible, I get a good picture within 3 or 4 seconds which seems like a long time but it really isn't bad. My Parents' Dish Network tunes just as slow so I know itreally isn't just directv. Sent from my DROID3 using...

Holy CRAP I am glad I didn't fall for the Hopper!

Ok well after this thread and more research... I would need 2 hoppers and 3 joeys for 5 tvs. It would be $199 for the extra hopper and give me 6 tuners total, all of which can record. Hoppers can't talk to each other yet but we can put them in the office and kids room where we don't watch...

Buyers remorse about getting 1 Hopper vs 2 Hoppers?

What wha? I WAS going to switch to Dish from DTV and when I was, I put that I had 5 TVs and there was an option for 2 Hoppers and 3 Joeys. That was 4 days ago. Is this a brand BRAND new policy? I can't believe they would do something like that, I mean even the people who don't realize at first...

Holy CRAP I am glad I didn't fall for the Hopper!

8 is what id have if I got a hr34 and another hr25. 5 tuners to record and 3 independent. I suppose a 2 hopper 2 joey system would work for me on a 4 tv setup... don't want to have to pay the $199 but adding a second hr24 would probably run me the same so whatevs... might have to rethink but...

Holy CRAP I am glad I didn't fall for the Hopper!

Wow I didn't realize this thread would get so heated... so from reading more of this thread... any joey can see any hopper in a dual hopper system or is it just the joeys that are linked to a specific hopper? That isn't so bad I guess. Still 6 tuners vs 8 tho

If I add another HR24 into my existing whole home setup, how exactly does it work?

That does kind of suck but I use the smartphone to schedule almost everything anyway. Plus with an extra 2TB over what we have now I can free up a bunch of space on our single one now so it probably will never be an issue. Now if the HR34 could be upped to 3 or 4TB of storage I might consider...

If I add another HR24 into my existing whole home setup, how exactly does it work?

The app does have a selector on it, my DVR is named livingroom_680 or something, I forget. Yeah I will be calling these clowns and getting another HR24 added on. Then at least one external 2TB HDD to at least double up storage on the new one I may have a hard time convincing my wife to put an...

    Hockey Playoffs

Rofl, one of my co-workers is MAD about this as we are stationed at McGuire in the local Philly region(Southwest NJ). He's a huge Penguins fan, has Center Ice to watch all the games and is just floored that he got blacked out on NBC. He probably is better off being blocked off from the pain of...

If I add another HR24 into my existing whole home setup, how exactly does it work?

Ok so they are all able to see each other then? Do I have 2 folders on a main menu or is it one big list like it is now? I actually like the setup with the dual DVRs better as I can't ever see a 4 tuner recording conflict and I get double the space and I can add a 5th TV without going over the...

    Questions about leaving DTV

Ways to get out of the ETF are if you move to a location where they can't get a good signal at all or if you are Military with orders overseas. Your situation is breach of contract and you'll be charged $480-20x where x is months with them out of 2 years. So if you've been with them 1 year your...

If I add another HR24 into my existing whole home setup, how exactly does it work?

Looking for more storage space and ability to record more things at once. The HR34 is ridiculous at $400 right now plus adding external 2 TB HDDs to two HR24s would give me a crapton more storage. My question is, am I still able to view recorded content on either HR24 anywhere in the house...

Holy CRAP I am glad I didn't fall for the Hopper!

2 Hoppers still only gives me 6 tuners and they can't talk to each other. The whole point of a whole home DVR is to be able to access anything from anywhere in the house at least IMO. If I get a HR34 I can do just this, be at 8 tuners which still will not require extra wiring and I won't ever...

New HR34 or wait for Hopper???

The way the Hopper is setup is just silly. Example: I have 4 TVs on Dish with 1 Hopper and 3 Joeys but as everything is run off the Hopper I only get 3 tuners as that is all the Hopper has. This means not only can I only watch 1 live channel if I have more than 1 thing recording or heaven...

Buyers remorse about getting 1 Hopper vs 2 Hoppers?

I almost switched from DTV to Dish this coming weekend but after learning about only having 3 tuners, and then even if I do get 2 Hoppers they can't talk to each other... yeah... I'm sticking with DTV and its ridiculously superior whole home setup. Even with my older HR24 that can only do 2...

Holy CRAP I am glad I didn't fall for the Hopper!

Was strongly considering switching to Dish for a few reasons. One is that they have DIY, the Hub, NatGeo Wild and H2 all in HD while Direct doesn't. Another is that it is slightly cheaper and I can get Epix as well. I am SO glad I did my research and cancelled the install before they came...

New here and to DirecTV, few questions

Hi all, I've never had satellite before although my Parents have Dish Network and the picture/channel selection was awesome. I have had both Comcast and FiOS. FiOS was simply AMAZING, picture quality is great, channel selection is second to none and the On Demand works instantly just like...
