HD service incompatible with SD receivers?

You're right about one thing, I was ignorant for assuming there would be fairness in this market/industry, but that still doesn't make it right, just, or even logical. But you are wrong about another...I wasn't blaming anyone, just expressing my disdain for the unfairness of the policy of...

HD service incompatible with SD receivers?

Anyway, my final feeling on my original quest is  It really seems like they have way too much freedom on what they can charge. Isn't it enough I am paying for their service once? Essentially, just because I have multiple TVs/rooms in my house, they can add surcharges until the cows come...

HD service incompatible with SD receivers?

The house previously had cabling run throughout it and the installer dead-headed one extra cable from dish. I think what Barry was referring to was splitting the decoded/duplexed signal from the receiver. You shouldn't need a special switch after it has already been duplexed(?). So I am clear...

HD service incompatible with SD receivers?

Um, yah, well when I priced it out on their website, they were definitely not free...$14 for a 2nd (including the "free" 722 they provided) dual tuner...so I think I'll be !$%@##*!$^@%& pissed off about it all I want. So what the heck is the advantage of buying/owning your own equipment?

HD service incompatible with SD receivers?

Well I think I am going to pursue a 222 since I can find them for roughly the same price as the 211s but I get an extra tuner. I'm not worried about the DVR aspect, especially because I am going to use my PC as one of the TVs and I think I can use that as a DVR system, correct? Also, DISH won't...

HD service incompatible with SD receivers?

Alrighty then, unfortunately, this leaves a somewhat sour taste in my mouth as a new customer...I feel as if they are purposefully restricting our options for affordable receivers (earlier models, non-HD, and otherwise used) by pigeon-holing technologies...just because I have an HDTV in one room...

HD service incompatible with SD receivers?

Okay, I understand my hopes that I could simply buy a cheap SD receiver to use with my dish are up in smoke...so does anyone have any thoughts on installing a second dish? Would that fly with DN? Answers to some of my other, previous questions would be great too.

HD service incompatible with SD receivers?

Thanks for the "welcome"! And yes, 61.5, 72 and 77 are the numbers I have listed under "satellite input" (1 and 2). I know the dish has 3 LNBs on it if that helps. Also, my best signal (59) comes from "Echostar 72.7 West", does that make sense? What would DN say if I told them I wanted a 2nd...

HD service incompatible with SD receivers?

Hi guys/gals, does anyone know if what I am being told is true? I just had DN service installed a couple weeks ago with only one "free" leased HD receiver (722) as part of the service, thinking I could add extra, cheaper SD receivers later on for my other TVs. I was just about to pull the...
