DNLA still does not work with Serviio as a source (nothing ever appears when that source is selected). I know other DNLA server do work, but Servio works best with all my other clients (Samsung Blue Ray, LG Blue Ray, Xbox 360, Toshiba TV).
For the first time in months I had a system lock up tonight. Watching live TV and the picture froze with the sound still running, then it froze completely. At S217. I really hope I am not going back to the every couple days freeze ups again.
Somehow two of my Joeys have got locked with a parental PIN which I can't seem to remove. The Hopper does not have it set. I have tried to copy the parental settings from the Hopper. I have also gone to mydish.com and hit the parental PIN reset. Neither has worked. Does anyone know another way...
Glad to help. I always hate problem threads where the OP never posts the eventual fix. One thing the last tech mentioned on mine was the line to the Hopper was not labeled as 3GB even though the installer had told me he was running a 3GB line to it. It is possible the installer grabbed the wrong...
Mine is still stable after 6 days (new record). It appeared to have two causes. One was the Regza Link on the Toshiba TV (CEC HDMI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). The signals from it were causing Hopper lockups and reboots.
The other was either the Node or the cable run from the Node to...
I also PMed DIRT last night. They sent out another tech and replaced the line to the Hopper and the node (per my wife as I was not home). Now to wait and see if it is resolved. As before, I am not calling it fixed until it lasts a week without a reboot.
Sometimes it will do it every evening, sometimes it will go a day or two without rebooting. Sometimes it is multiple times in an evening. It usually happens right when turning on the Hopper but it has done it while just watching it.
Yet another freeze and reboot twice tonight. Screwed up another show I watch. This is getting real old. So it is not the Regza Link. Updating to S209 does not help. On the 3rd hopper and no help there. Temp never gets above 125 and the hopper is on a table not in a cabinet.
So far so good with the Regza Link off I have switched back an forth from the blue ray player input to the hopper input and no freeze up/reboots. I will wait for a week of no problems before I call it fixed, then I will let Dirt know about the fix.
Been looking at the temp since a couple people...
Another reboot today on the new Hopper. I did notice that it was right after watching something on my blue ray player and then switching back to the Hopper. My TV is a Toshiba and it has Regza Link. This sends commands via the HDMI between the TV and compatible devices. For example when I change...
Update: the tech arrived today to swap out the rebooting Hopper. The first Hopper he tried was also defective and was stuck in a reboot loop (he let it sit a good 30 minutes and about 10 reboots before calling it defective). He had another one on the truck so brought that one in and plugged it...
Yep, had to unplug when I switched out the surge suppressor. After I posted last night it rebooted again just after 8. I checked the temp and it was 115 with a max of 125. The tech comes out tomorrow.
I replaced the surge suppressor as tech support suggested on Sunday night. I have not had a freeze/reboot since then, but it has only been a day and a half. So far so good. I'll call it fixed if it survives the week.
He just said try it without one, but did not mention they were not recommended. Unless there is a good reason I would rather not run any electronics without one. One close lightning strike and you have a pile of junk.
I got another freeze/reboot today. First it stopped responding to the remote, then after several seconds the hopper rebooted. I called Dish and the tech thought it old be a problem with my surge suppressor. I will pick up a new one today. The existing one is rather old and cheap.
I must say...
I recently switched from D* and do like the Hopper/Joey setup. I have seen some bugs (see my thread for details) but it Dish seems serious about resolving them. If you are concerned you may want to monitor the forum for a while before pulling the trigger, but I get the feeling most people are...
Last night I proactively reset the hopper before PTAT started and did not have the freeze/reboot happen. I may just try doing that every evening until S209 hits it.
I did check the temperature. It says the max temp was 123F.
