I think I figured out the problem. The 2nd guy showed me the tool he uses for looking at the satellite, and had me use it to look left/right and then up to 25. I assume this is the elevation. But on dishpointer.com, at my location, the elevation is 35 degrees. Do they measure 10 degrees lower or...

...but it still bothers me

Update: second installer just came out and said the same as the first one. He claimed I needed to see all 5 and can only see one. My app must be very inaccurate.

Hi Chip, thanks. I am in 18436. He said I only need to see 3 satellites, so I was assuming he meant 99, 101, and 103W. He did not go the roof to check, it may be a better view up there.
