Just switched to Comcast from Verizon

Hey NR2D. Please let us know how your experience is from Verizon to Comcast! New Jersey is a hit and miss. Some areas of the cable system hold up really well.. Others need a lot of work and have a lot of trouble. Comcast uses Arris for their Cable Modems. STB Pace, Arris, Motorola and...

    Compression on cable TV

One thing to add with Tampa8. This is correct. I had Dish and Xfinity at the same time. I compared channels on both. It was a hit and miss. NFL network looking slightly better on dish but ESPN looked slightly better on Xfinity. Also with each cable system and market the quality changes on...

    Compression on cable TV

I'm not sure exactly how much compression they are using but I know Comcast stacks about 2-12 channels on average per frequency channel. This of course is depending on market. Also to take in to account is the local affiliate, which simulcast to OTA and cable and satellite. KUSA in Denver does...

Pixelation at times on distant locals

Since X1 is very much reliant on the signal levels vs legacy, this can effect audio drop outs too. Also.. It could be the local headend or an issue with the network. Hard to say at this point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pixelation at times on distant locals

OK, it may not be you. It could be the station pixelating at the local headend The only way to find out is to call in and have them open up a ticket for the local market to check. It could be the station pixelating to the headend, or could be something wrong at the headend It doesn't sound like...

Any Way To Add External Storage to X1 ?

Cloud playback right now was just enabled as a fail safe. So if a recording playback fails on the local HDD it will play it from the cloud without the user knowing. The only way you can tell is next to the DVR symbol on the bottom right of the timeline , you will see a cloud logo. The XG2 STB...

Switching from Dish to Comcast. X1 Self Install Advice

I tried the TiVo Bold a few weeks ago. Took it back after one night, and went back with the XG1 DVR. The TiVo has come cool features such as the netflix, amazon and other video platforms on the device. Included with your search results. Honestly I found nothing really that made me think it was...

Comcast does allow SIK in most markets, even for new TV with MoCA.

Switching from Dish to Comcast. X1 Self Install Advice

I would split it at the box outside. The X1 has a DOCSIS 3.0 modem inside. It uses and eSTB QAM for linear and VOD and uses the eCM DOCSIS for menus, guide, apps and web. If your signal is too low or too hot depending if it's USSNR OR DSSNR can effect VOD, Guide and even DVR scheduling and...

Switching from Dish to Comcast. X1 Self Install Advice

As long as the wiring inside your house is good, everything should be fine. Basically the X1 shares it's recordings through the second receivers through MoCA. Depending on what secondary STB you get will effect certain aspects. Such as if you get a RNG150 as a second STB, this will use its own...

Try going into settings, Device, All the way to the bottom and select "Sync DVR". This should clear that up.

The FCC is going to war over set-top boxes

Id love to use an Apple TV with my xfinity service. I don't think it's going to happen though. The STB fees are a large part of revenue for Comcast and other cable companies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Who thought this up???

Yea that confuses me too, having CMT in the sports entertainment package. It goes to tell you there is much more going on behind the scenes with the Viacom channels. Honestly I could live without Viacom Channels.

XG1 V1 Getting 5 Tuners to record with FW Update

It appears the XG1V1 DVR's are getting a nice update! When updated to firmware version RKD 2.2, X1 DVR customers with a Pace XG1v1 set-top box will be able to record more shows simultaneously -- up to five. The new firmware is rolling out now. With this update, the affected XG1s will no...

    X-1 Questions

Absolutly agree. RNG150's lag a bit. XI3s and XG2s are much faster. Same with the Xg1 V3. Plus 6 tuners is nice.
  23. CrimsonKnightDX

    X-1 Questions

yes, or you can use an XG2, which allows you to pause live tv up to 25 mins or fast forward up to 25 mins as well or to live. No DVR functionality, yet. Comcast would like to eventually use for full cloud DVR one day. Keep in mind the XI3's or XID's are HDMI only.

    X-1 Questions

I'll be going from Dish to Comcast when we move and I have a few questions: Is there an OTA tuner ? No Can you combine 2 together so all TV's share the tuners/DVR's? Yes, X1 and xi3s, or RNG150. xi3 will use a tuner from the main hub X1. RNG150 has its own tuner. All will share recordings...
