DTV customer considering switching to Dish

Thanks for the help. We've had DTV for some years and I replicated our home system set up with a dish, power inserter and switch at our campground lot from May till Oct. I have 2 tvs in the RV and leave one box in all season and carry the other box back and forth from our home to the RV...

DTV customer considering switching to Dish

Thanks for the info. I have a Roku 3 that should work. Our DTV system has a dish with LNB and an 8 plex splitter to various rooms in our house. We have 4 boxes and carry a couple of them around to different rooms. One of the feeds has a power inserter that outputs 18v to power the LNB...

DTV customer considering switching to Dish

DishTV is all new to me. I've been with DTV for 20 years, but their cost is up 40% in the last year. Anyway I read where DishTV offers a sling adapter that you can carry when you travel. I wasn't sure how it intertaces with a TV or sound system. If I can use it off a DSL line, then I wouldn't...

DTV customer considering switching to Dish

Hey guys. Back again with a few more questions. We decided to stick with DTV till now since I had my portable dish and tripod already set up. But we are making plans to move to another campground next year. There are trees blocking some of SW sky but it appears that if I get the 1000+ I...

DTV customer considering switching to Dish

We live in the country outside a small town and the only dealer is in another town about 45 miles away. They checked our house on satellite and thought we'd be ok, but I'm not so sure since our lot slopes downhill and we have trees blocking the satellites. Anyway, they said the next time they...

DTV customer considering switching to Dish

Ok, thanks for all the help. I also am checking the settings for our home in North Carolina. It looks like I may have similar issues there, especially with the low elevation setting and availability of locals. Maybe I can get someone from Dish to check it. However, when I chatted with them...

DTV customer considering switching to Dish

Those are different settings than I got from Dishpointer. I was told that I needed "a clear view of 3 satellites to make Dish work at your location: 110, 119, 129." But if I can get the same programming w/o the locals at 61.5 and 73 it would work for everything but the locals.

Those 2 satellites are clear and at 157 degrees and 173 degrees and the elevation is 43. Do they provide all the available channels including HD? We wouldn't get the locals if they're only available on the 129W satellite. I might get some with the antenna on the RV.

DTV customer considering switching to Dish

Not sure it's going to work at our RV site. It's at Utts Campgound in Fancy Gap, Virginia 24328. I was able to drag the Dishpointer line of site to the location of our DTV dish. They use 99, 101 and 103 as their primary satellites and we set the dish at 119 degrees and 43 degree elevation and...

DTV customer considering switching to Dish

Been with DTV for 20 years, but I'm not happy since ATT acquired them. But before I switch to Dish, I need to know if I can get a signal at our vacation site in Virginia. Presently, I have a DTV dish set up that feeds 2 tvs in our RV. I set it up each spring and bring it home in the fall...
