    OTHER Splitter question

Just to clarify, there's no appreciable loss from using 75 Ohm terminators versus using a smaller splitter. In other words, you can have a 4-way splitter that is properly terminated on 2 outputs, and it would perform "basically" the same as a comparable 2-way splitter. Edit: I should add that it...

    OTHER Splitter question

You can also use 75 Ohm terminators to block unused ports.

    Getting Started (Advice?)

It's basically a black art to regular people, hence the stigma. Stay woke my satellite homies.

    PBS MUX down on 125W?

Don't wanna speak too soon, but I read from Rick's that people are reporting the signal is back to normal. It's coming in nice and strong here again with plenty of margin, so fingers crossed that they did correct the issue.

    Help identifying satellite

The only transponder you might pick up from 103 would be 12141/V/20000 which has NHK, CGTN and music. Just from a guess, you might be pointed at 101 picking up the strong DBS stuff. Very little chance of getting 87 and 103 from the same dish unless it's a big ol boy.

scored a free DISH TurboHd satellite dish! Any FTAers using one of these for anything?

Here's one I'm using currently, probably similar to what you picked up. I also got it free from a neighbor that knows I'm into "crazy satellite stuff." Note the extension I had to fabricate to move the lnb away, it's just a piece of flat bar scrap bolted to the stock arm.

    PBS MUX down on 125W?

Modified Slimline with a PLL LNB in Missouri. I realize that it's undersized at only 33 x 23" (84 x 58cm) but it was free. I pick the mux up with a little margin above lock at night, then gradually lose it when the sun rises. The same dish performed beautifully all summer, with 12180 being one...

    PBS MUX down on 125W?

I get the feeds bouncing from 0% to barely anything then back to 0%, thought it was a tree but considering how many other people are having issues, something is probably going on. I can only guess lowered power, because the dish I'm using is on the small side. Hopefully it returns to normal...

    Dead Ku-band LNB

I vote for smashing it with a hammer. No way in hell you're getting it back together, and you might damage the circuitry, but there's a chance that you pop it apart cleanly. Also a good chance of getting hurt, so be careful and don't smash it with a hammer probably.

    PBS MUX down on 125W?

Well darn. I'll have to switch my dishes up, because it looks to me like a tree is leaning more in the way now thanks to the snow storms we had. Glad nothing is going on with 125 at least.

    PBS MUX down on 125W?

I'm having the same issue today. Montana PBS coming in solid, 12180 mux nowhere to be found. Not even showing in a blindscan. I watched it last night without issue and it's clear today. I guess they must be lowering the power sometimes. Or we're both having a bizarre equipment failure.

    cozitv on 33" dish possible?

I get pretty reliable reception of 103w with a modified Slimline in the Midwest. I use conduit hangers to make the lnb holders as I found the idea from an old thread here. I can pick up the NC feeds and the other low resolution mux almost all the time, excepting thick rain clouds. A light rain...

    CSPAN

How do most people watch C-SPAN now? Old receiver used as a positioner and analog video as a bonus or some kind of A/B switch setup? I'd be grateful if somebody could give a history lesson about the channel or the days of analog transmissions in general, because I'm entirely out of the loop.

OTHER GTMedia V9 Galaxy 19 Setup Help

I would suggest setting the lnb properly first as above, most likely 9750 - 10600 for "universal" and 10750 for "standard." It will say what to use on the sticker of the lnb. Then aim the dish roughly, and blindscan. If you don't pick up any transponders at all, you need to tweak the elevation...

    New member setup design

Nope, in fact the 103w radio channels are on a strong transponder in regular mpeg2 audio. Only problem is that most of the channels have to be manually added - so your receiver may not have that capability. A basic blind scan will reveal the classical station and a classic rock station, plus a...

    New member setup design

As far as music goes, you might be a little disappointed in the ku-band offerings. There are plenty of "hidden" radio channels on 103w that have to be manually added, with a pretty wide range of genres, but it's more like shopping mall music or satellite TV music channels, if you've ever had...
