Exactly- folks are eager to praise D* for what they might do and slam E* for what they have done... And in lots of cases E* are getting slammed for the HD content they are not promising for 04... when we are 30 days into the year.

NO!!! This has been seen with quite a few of us. What *seems* to be happening is that the 811 is downconverting to 480p, then to 720p. So the 720p seems to be SD, not HD.. and it sure looks like it to me. Check out this thread for other comments on the issue- they are scattered...

You make it sound like they are behind... right now they offer the same as D*. Right? Where *is* the programming, in your opinion, if they dont "scramble to get more"?

Love mine. No dark images (using DVI)- got a few minor irratants- but firmware will fix them in time. Im happy as a pig in shlt.

If you are a DHP customer (digital home plan), you can add this to your existing recievers for an extra $5/month. Or, you can swap it for an existing reciever for no add'l monthly charge.

I verified that in 2-3 weeks when 811's will be available again thru E*, they will be available for $99 as an upgrade for existing subscribers.
