    HD DVR vs TIVO

Thanks guys. It seems that for the most part, the HR20 is a good unit. Like all equipment, it has it's quirks and it's haters. I think I'll give it a shot!

    HD DVR vs TIVO

I used to be with DirecTV and I had a SD Tivo unit which I loved. After the hard drive crashed, I went to Comcast, and I have had ENOUGH of these POS Motorola HD DVR's! They are useless equipment! Anyway, I'm probably gonna make the switch back but I was just curious of what everybody...

    H20 Crashing/Rebooting

I have an H10, and sometimes while adjusting my OTA for Atlanta's Fox affiliate, 5-1, my receiver has rebooted. It has happened several times, but not frequently like you guys. It's happened maybe 10 times in about 6 or 7 months. I agree, it's ridiculous......

DirecTv HD DVR - Newbie Perplexed

I'm in the same boat; I'd like to get an HD DVR, but I'd like to wait for the mpeg4 one, since I'm in Atlanta and want my locals in HD. I currently have the mpeg2 HD box, but can't pick up any HD locals other than Fox OTA. When is the new HD DVR supposed to be released? Anyboody know a...

    5LNB/mpeg4- worth the upgrade??

I live in the Atlanta area, and I'm considering the upgrade to the new dish. I know that I would get the local HD channels and the mpeg 4 upgrade, but is there anything else? Does the mpeg 4 help the SD programming at all? It might just be me, but the SD looks pretty bad on a 42" plasma as...

What's up with Fox showing 16:9 programming in 4:3?

Sorry, forgot to add that I've checked my sd tivo box on the same program to make sure it's not stretched. Also, the Fox logo appears on top of the black box, not in the corner of the viewable screen, if that means anything. It happens via OTA and satellite. Eli

What's up with Fox showing 16:9 programming in 4:3?

No, it's not a stretched screen, I'm 100% positive that it is a 16:9 picture. If it is a still shot, in a living room for example, a window might be on the far left side of the screen. When you look above the bar, you can see the curtains continue till the end of the window, then maybe a...

What's up with Fox showing 16:9 programming in 4:3?

I'm in 30620, just far enough that I can only pick up Fox 5 through antenna (with a cheap antenna, anyway!) I get the NY feed cause Fox is the only local station that signed a waiver for me. How long til we get our local HD feeds via the dish in ATL? As far as the 16:9 and 4:3 stuff, I can...

What's up with Fox showing 16:9 programming in 4:3?

They've been doing this for a while now. A lot of their programming (Family Guy, Simpsons, 70s Show, etc, as well as tons of commercials) is broadcast as a 4:3 signal with black bars on the side. Problem is, the black bars don't cover the entire sides of the signal, you can see a little bit of...

    Question about making Component cables-

When I first got my HDTV I made the mistake of buying cheap HDMI and component cables on ebay. I needed 25ft cables to run through the wall. Well, they both crapped out on me. My D* guy told me that I could just use 3 coax cables and buy connectors at Radioshack that screw onto the ends of...

    ESPN2 HD and other channels

The last time that I was talking to somebody in the "HD department" at D*, I asked him if he had heard any "rumors" about future HD channels, and he said that he can't say for sure, but he has heard something about TNTHD and ESPN2HD, but nothing else anytime soon(other than locals.) I do...
