I think it will be a lot longer than "several months" when they shut down the 110/119 satellites. I would guess it will be at least a year. That said, those of us with HR10-250 will be missing out on the majority of HD content very soon. Jim

You are pretty much stuck with HR20. There are Tivo-based HR10-250's, but you won't be able to receive the majority of the D*'s HDTV channels (once the major rollout begins soon) because it doesn't decode mpeg4 channels. There is also good reason to believe that there will be a HR21 model...

I agree. There is very little that is more ridiculous than $100+ for a for an 18 inch HDMI cable. From a curiosity standpoint, it is probably worth getting a monoprice HDMI cable to determine whether or not you can tell the difference on your set. Jim
