    Coax tracer?

There's also a really cool unit that I used while doing a major rewiring/labeling/upgrading project here at our facility (that has a LOT of sat & OTA wiring)... It's similar to that one linked from SolidSignal, but even more capable.... it's the Gale PT-6 pocket toner... they also have the...

    Review: AT&T U-VERSE

One other factor to consider with an IPTV topology is the bandwidth that is available to video is not necessarily the same bandwidth as might be there for the actual 'Internet' connection. I'm sure that AT&T has some massive servers around that do the actual video feeds into the users houses...

No. The current Homezone box (1022SD) does not have OTA capabilities.

    HomeZone

Depends on the quality of the source material... some are excellent, near-DVD quality (like a good DIVX rip), some are less so, but again, it depends on how well the original encoding was done.

    HomeZone

yup... i have the same config with my system at home... well, a little different, as my OTA seems to cause fuzzy TV2 reception if sharing the same cable, but i have two lines going into my theater room, one just for OTA, the other diplexed for satellite into my HZR and to take TV2 back...

    EXCLUSIVE: AT&T HomeZone First Look

Actually, 2Wire developed the MediaPoint to work with the MediaPortal, which would stream media from the 'main' MediaPortal out to additional locations. If people want to pay money for it, i'm sure that it could be sold pretty quickly. As for the TV2 option, you are partially correct in the...

    EXCLUSIVE: AT&T HomeZone First Look

The first double arrow to the right (and left) of the yellow pause is the variable fast forward (or rewind), there's five different speeds available (IIRC). The double arrow with line (next out from the middle) is jump to the end (or beginning). I also believe that the streaming music...

    EXCLUSIVE: AT&T HomeZone First Look

AT&T Homezone will require the use of the AT&T-provided DSL Gateway, which is currently the 2Wire HomePortal 2700HG-B. Existing customers may be able to use older HomePortal gateways, but wireless is recommended, and I'd say 802.11g for better connection speeds (for moving data between the...

Other than the new equipment, it's just normal E* network programming packages that are being bundled and sold by AT&T. Qwest does the same thing around here in Phoenix with D*...

    EXCLUSIVE: AT&T HomeZone First Look

Ummmm... the box doesn't actually surf the web. it just downloads content from providers, along with allowing users to upload photos and music to the box. saying that it's locked in a walled garden is like saying that a 622 is locked in a walled garden. apparently the wall street journal...

    DPP44 and High Current Diplexors...

Just curious... i was looking at the spec page for the Channel Master 4002IFD, http://www.channelmaster.com/pages/dip.htm, and wasn't sure about the power handling ability of that diplexor. I've got, hmmm... four installed around my house. Starting from the dish, i have a DPP44, and two...

SBC Dish Won't Upgrade me to Mpeg 4

mediaportal... that's the DISH STB... homeportal is the 2wire gateway router, currently being sold to at&t customers and other 2wire partners... also, the spec page for the mediaportal mentions MPEG-4, but only on 'client playback', along with MP3, AAC, WM9 and other media formats. It...

    622 Ethernet Predictions???

IPTV and such... Well, looking though the previous posts, it looks like there's quite a bit of confusion on the 622 and IPTV as well, at least in a home networking environment... As far as using a firewall/router to separate the "Internet traffic" from "Video Traffic", well, the broadband...
