I checked as far as I could and the streaming and ota feeds are the same in the Birmingham DMA.

Are there any small TVs for ATSC 3.0?

Am I correct in understanding that a box is required for each TV? Also are there any DVR capabilities - I can''t find it listed on the website

He's sorta fun, even though he has some old ideas. Here's a suggestion - set him to ignore. That way you won't be bothered.

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

Quoting the article you shared "FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is directing EchoStar to sell AWS-4 spectrum assets, holdings that happen to be coveted by Elon Musk's SpaceX, reports Bloomberg." Note the word directing. Hence the government is directing a private company what to do. If offering an...

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

It seems he has a valid point. Would seem it is no more political than your post.

    How things have changed

I think one needs to look at the scope of the sports needs. To get complete access to all of the sports that one may want will probably require a multitude of streaming services. All in all the cumulative cost of these services may be greater than the cost of Paid Live TV. For example, let's...

    How things have changed

Two questions: 1) Where does YTTV and all of the other streaming cable-like services fit into this graphic and 2) What is Other that is so significant?

I have finally cancelled Dish after 26 years!

If you consider $10 to be a lot of money then you are correct. If you consider the Hopper 3 to be the best DVR, it is worth $10.

I have finally cancelled Dish after 26 years!

Unlike most of you on this thread, I will be staying with Dish. In spite of what Bruce may say, it is the best value for me. I want sports (ESPN and ABC, FOX, CBS including CBS Sportsnet, NBC not just OTA, Turner), Turner Classic Movies (the original not the neutered version on Max), History...

New Tag Missing on Topics in Forums

Starting this week the New Tag is missing on topics inside the forums. The tag is on the forum listing but not on each topic. This situation is frustrating because I don't know what I have already read without checking each of the topics.

My rate just went through the roof!

Customer of about 25 years. AT200, Hopper 3, Joey - $100/month for 2 years. Equivalent to YTTV except for the luxury of having the Hopper. Hardware is much better than streaming IMHO. Got it by calling the retention number.

    Drama and Classics Pack?

Laff OTA in Birmingham is 16x9. If I had guide info I might actually use OTA feeds on my Hopper ;)

    Drama and Classics Pack?

With a Hopper, the picture can be expanded easily. I mapped my double diamond button to allow me to stretch or zoom as needed. Takes all of 5 seconds. Also with Hopper FMC can be recorded.

    Dish/Echostar 1st Quarter Report

While what you say is true, they had a lot of cable subscribers, video and internet, and sold a package that was extremely cheap. This cheap package relied on their inherent internet for operation. I looked into it (had Spectrum at the time) and decided it was not feasible for anyone who used...

ESPN actively planning to offer linear feed directly to consumers, has deals with two leagues

You make a valid point but that same argument could be made for most channels that are distributed via MVPD.

ESPN actively planning to offer linear feed directly to consumers, has deals with two leagues

The key here is that Warner owns the rights to a vast amount of movies. Personally I love old movies especially those with no commercials. Over the Memorial Day weekend I recorded a lot of war movies from TCM & FMC. The majority were from TCM. Those from FMC were loaded with commercials...

ESPN actively planning to offer linear feed directly to consumers, has deals with two leagues

"It does not have the entire TCM library but there is a lot there." The fact that it is a subset of TCM indicates that it is not the true TCM - at least to me and my money.

Yea that article is about two years old. I believe you will find that several people have come to the rescue of TCM. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turner_Classic_Movies Under Corporate restructuring (2019–present) you can find more current information.
