    How things have changed

There was an additional take in this morning's newsletter. Live means live - no DVR. Since I watch nearly everything delayed by some amount, I would hardly ever be in those numbers. Maybe that reflects on Dish since usage of the DVR is so prevalent. Cordcuttersnews has been known to make...

    How things have changed

Can't say I understand this data set. Add everything up and I get less than 8% of the "total television viewership". So does this mean that over 92% are not watching linear programming? I'm not seeing this information in the Cordcutters referenced Nielson article. Also are less than .02%...

Sling TV Launches New Select Service

The funnest part that I read was that Disney was claiming that Sling was hurting their business plan. Of course Disney never hurt anyone's business plan. Think Disney will buy Dish now?:p

YouTube TV & Disney Reach Deal 11/15/25

While there is validity to what you are saying, IMHO you are oversimplifying the situation. You seem to make the case that all sports fans are the same. i.e. the same sports fans watch football, basketball, baseball, F1, NASCAR, hockey, wresting etc. I don't believe that the sports population...

It may finally be time to say Good Bye

Same thing here. I have 5 gb/s fiber (1 and 5 are the same price - at&t retiree) but my network is only 1 gb/s and I'm not maxing it out. I'm partial to Ethernet. When I start seeing problems I will upgrade my network. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The FCC Will Allow ABC, CBS, FOX, & NBC TV Stations to Shutdown Free ATSC 1.0 & Switch to ATSC 3.0 Only

Color Me Confused. The title says: The FCC Will Allow ABC, CBS, FOX, & NBC TV Stations to Shutdown Free ATSC 1.0 & Switch to ATSC 3.0 Only Yet in the text of the article: The notice also emphasizes existing flexibilities in the rules to support the transition. Notably, ATSC 3.0 stations are...

Are there any small TVs for ATSC 3.0?

Am I correct in understanding that a box is required for each TV? Also are there any DVR capabilities - I can''t find it listed on the website

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

Quoting the article you shared "FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is directing EchoStar to sell AWS-4 spectrum assets, holdings that happen to be coveted by Elon Musk's SpaceX, reports Bloomberg." Note the word directing. Hence the government is directing a private company what to do. If offering an...

    How things have changed

I think one needs to look at the scope of the sports needs. To get complete access to all of the sports that one may want will probably require a multitude of streaming services. All in all the cumulative cost of these services may be greater than the cost of Paid Live TV. For example, let's...

I have finally cancelled Dish after 26 years!

If you consider $10 to be a lot of money then you are correct. If you consider the Hopper 3 to be the best DVR, it is worth $10.

I have finally cancelled Dish after 26 years!

Unlike most of you on this thread, I will be staying with Dish. In spite of what Bruce may say, it is the best value for me. I want sports (ESPN and ABC, FOX, CBS including CBS Sportsnet, NBC not just OTA, Turner), Turner Classic Movies (the original not the neutered version on Max), History...

My rate just went through the roof!

Customer of about 25 years. AT200, Hopper 3, Joey - $100/month for 2 years. Equivalent to YTTV except for the luxury of having the Hopper. Hardware is much better than streaming IMHO. Got it by calling the retention number.
