    Nimiq 82

I too see fluctuations in signal strength here in Tennessee with night being the weakest, but I am not too sure it would be wobble. Several thoughts (note I am using a 1.2 meter Fortec to consistently pull in 82W and am still vulnerable to rain fade) 1) If it was genuine wobble (satellite...

Bell Express Vu in Charlotte NC

I am in Nashville which is as far south as Charlotte and pull in 82W with a 1.2 Fortec. I tried smaller dishes ranging from 80 cms to 100 cms but not all transponders came through on a consistent basis. As I am further west than Charlotte I cannot guarantee that a 1.2 m would work for you A...

It sounds like you are account sharing which is basically stealing.

SD & BTV Receiption is Sourthern States(Texas and states in anthat area) during rain?

We get some pretty strong storms here in Nashville and I invariably lose signal for a few minutes. I was forced to go to a 1.2 m Fortec for 82W and use the standard 20 inch for 91W. I get around 95% quality on 91W but did try a 1 meter last year as an experiment and still lost signal during...

    Trying to find Nimiq 82W

I have a Slingbox Pro HD which I use to watch TV on my laptop. A few things you will need to consider. 1) You will need to find someone with a Bell HD Receiver that it can hook up to. Note: you in effect take over that receiver so it almost needs to be one that is not used frequently...

    Trying to find Nimiq 82W

Iceberg is 100% correct. I am in Nashville, TN and I pull in 82W with a 39 inch dish. I tried a 36 inch but that did not pull in all the transponders. I would consider myself to be on the southernmost fringe of reception. Even a 6 foot would likely not pull the signal in at your location as you...

    no signal on Nimiq 82

The 4100 is standard receiver and does not handle HD. I also doubt it would pull in any channels from 82.

    no signal on Nimiq 82

You mention you wish to update your receiver which implies you have not done so yet. That raises the question which receiver are you using to find a signal with 82W? If it is an old non 8PSK equipped receiver you will not be able to get a lock on most of the transponders on 82 so it may look as...

ordering Bell PPV outside of Canada is it worth the risk?

I believe you 100% and it still amazes me a little that we see a company who actually spend quite a lot of time and effort (and money) to find ways to reduce their revenue stream. I know Bell cannot knowingly sell service in the US, but a witch-hunt makes no sense at all.

ordering Bell PPV outside of Canada is it worth the risk?

Another major reason for ANI delivery is for 911 calls. The information is ties to a database which brings up all the home information for the call center as soon as the call is answered. For ISP coverage you can always route through a Canadian Proxy server. I use that all the time to access...

    bell in north jersey

If you plan to use a 36 inch dish I see no problem for you in NJ. I am in Nashville, TN and tried a 36 inch and found I could pull all TP's in during the day but lost a few at night. With a 1.2 m Fortec I can now keep all TP's 24/7 on 82W. As Nashville is a good 300 miles south of you, I...

FreeHD Canada - New proposed satellite service has applied to the CRTC for a licence

There is one other difference here in the US. We are only allowed to receive our local NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, PBS Channels. In Canada, nobody has an issue with the fact that via satellite you can watch CBC, CTV from any region you want. I also expect the PBS stations would scream out if we...

    Interested in Canadian TV

I pull in Bell on the 91 with just a small 18 inch dish with no problems. As for 82W which carries the HD content I have been forced to move to a 120 cm dish. I did have a 76 cm which became marginal once Bell moved to 8PSK modulation. I then tried a 100 cm which worked better but I still lost...

    Can't find Nimiq 4 with 90cm dish...

I doubt that it is atmospheric as I find some transponders are affected while others are very stable. I find that TP 01, 05, 09, 13, 17, 21, 25, 29 and TP 04, 08, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 all don't vary much (Note the groupings of 4) whereas all the others can change by around 6-8 points on my...

Nimiq 82W contour map, a first take

I decided to go the 120 cm Fortec here in Nashville and now find I have pretty solid signals all round. Here are the results in signal strength on the 9242 for the 120 cms. (Note from all my experimentation I have concluded that each dB translates to approx 7 percentage points) TP 120 cm 1...

Nimiq 82W contour map, a first take

Since 8PSK, I lost a couple of transponders on 82W with my 76 cm here in Nashville. I upgraded to a Fortec 100 cms and now get the following results in Nashville on my 9242. All come in but I do lose a couple at night (TP's 22, 23, 26, 27, 30, 31 can sometimes not lock or take a few seconds)...

Bell in the US without Nimiq82

What size dish are you using? I pull in 91W fine with the 20 inch Bell Dish but absolutely nothing on 82W once they launched Nimiq 4. I had to increase the dish size (76 cms works for about 75% of the transponders here in Nashville, the 100 cms works for all transponders and even then I lose a...

Bell in the US without Nimiq82

Not sure if you are referring to my post but I assure you The 8PSK conversion is complete on 82W. Only TP's 1,2, 6, 15 and 16 remain QPSK. I know this because my old 4700 will only lock onto those transponders and literally changed overnight as they changed things. Also see the following...

Bell in the US without Nimiq82

I think you will find the conversion to 8PSK is complete on 82W with the exception of 5 transponders (01,02,06 I think, 15,16 which carry SD channels) . See Bell Uplink Reports for 6/25/09.

Bell in the US without Nimiq82

I would not try and call Bell from the US especially if you give any account info. I use a really old 4700 which has long since been deactivated for alignment purposes so I don' think your problem is a smart card issue. I take it with me to the dish and hook it up to a small portable TV so I...

In the US, No Sat 82 since Nimiq4, need advice

Interesting, Here in Nashville your weak transponders are my stronger ones and ones that are real problematic for me are strong for you. TP27 has always been the weakest one for me and TP 4,8 and 32 are my strongest. Since 8PSK I have lost a couple of TP's with the 3dB modulation penalty but...

Checking Signal Strength with BEV 9242

I find that my 9242 will show zero for anything below 41. Also remember with 8PSK you will need 3dB more to get a lock.

    Aiming BEV - New York

If you get 91, you should pull the dish to the east to get 82.

    Any Updates

If you are in the southern US, you have probably lost the channels. There is an additional 3dB of signal required for 8PSK so you are more than likely below the threshold.
