anyone here from Robert at VE?

I spoke with Robert last week when I ordered an HD-TiVo. I got the $200 rebate for Voom subs so I get a heck of a deal on the HD-TiVo for coming back to DirecTV!

    big important question

You can still get HD porn on DirecTV, but you will pay $15 per 90 minutes. No monthly sub offer there.

    VOOM Shutdown Update

chrem88, you only have one ball? Hmm, talk like that cost John Bobbit more than that, but I think he learned his lesson. Maybe you didn't... How about a little class here?

Direct TV Salesman at Best Buy Laments VOOM leaving

Indy, Martin Logan speakers sound great and one of their systems was rated AAAA by Stereophile Guide to Home Theater. The Infinity IRS series sounded more like Martin Logans than traditional cone/dome speakers but not quite. The Logans are electrostatic while the Infinity IRS were...

Direct TV Salesman at Best Buy Laments VOOM leaving

Firebird, I have heard BOSE systems and they have all sounded very poor compared to systems that cost less. Paper cone drivers in a plastic box with spring clips and no crossovers is not a good speaker design. Technically, you are right - I haven't heard systems that come close to sounding...

Direct TV Salesman at Best Buy Laments VOOM leaving

If I heard BOSE would no longer be around, I would be happy that people would get better sound for less money with ANY other brand that isn't sold from the back of a white van. PS, if you want to see what some of the best speakers ever made look like, check out the link in my signature.

New SD and WealthTV VVV Only Channels:

Perhaps they should allow a free preview period. I think that Wealth HD is aimed at people who are in the VaVaVoom price point, though.

No new channels this weekend - this is a bad sign

Yeah, if something promised is a day late, it is obvious that the sky is falling. Add one more notch to the "Voom is dead assumption pole" and I swear that Voom will be around when the pole is reduced to a toothpick.

Cablevision Chairman To Use Cash, Stock To Fund Voom

Sorry, but that isn't correct. It would take 500,000 subs at $50/month to generate $75 million per quarter in revenue, but Voom doesn't keep all that money. They have to pay CNN, Fox News, ESPN, etc. a price per subscriber and that would mean that much of that money would go to them and...

1.2 million shares cashed in by Dolan???

1.2 million shares traded. I don't see where all 1.2 million shares came from one person. Look here: http://moneycentral.msn.com/detail/stock_quote?Symbol=CVC The average daily volume of CVC stock is 2.97 million shares, so 1.2 million traded by 10:45am isn't a big deal. Also, there are...

    900,000 subscriptions

I don't know who would expect the DVR to rent for $5/month when they rent their receivers for $10/month. Perhaps the rental will be $10/month for the DVR plus a $5 DVR fee and $5 per client.

    900,000 subscriptions

And the closer they get to the breakeven point, the less money they will lose per quarter!

Cablevision chairman may boot CEO son

They may even have to send ESPN to film the board meeting. I am sure the smackdown would make the top 10 plays of the week!

The (www.voom.com) page is back! (And back to shutdown mode)

I cannot check out the help link because my security settings prevent the applet from starting. Enough other people are verifying this that I am a believer now that it is legit. While you may not care enough to fake a site, there are people who do. Some are lazy and just troll and others are...

The (www.voom.com) page is back! (And back to shutdown mode)

Yes, somebody who registered in March of 2005 and has 2 posts. I notice that the domain was registered for one year, the cheapest total expenditure one can make on a web domain. erron posts a nice graphic that should give some proof that it is legit, but he is also a new user in the last 2...

The (www.voom.com) page is back! (And back to shutdown mode)

Or, there is no such thing as bad press. If Voom LLC pulls out of this with a coup by Charles Dolan, I can assure you there will be some talk in the primetime news about it and that will generate even more subs.

Box owners... who's left and what can we do?

These boxes may have a value to Motorola. After all, there is a good chance that the next generation of DirecTV boxes will be based on a compatible design. As far as going after a refund on the boxes, I think you will need to wait until your signal is indeed dark before you take legal action.

But those "flagship channels" are not the HD ones we are looking for.

    Groundhog Day x 10 x 24

Add me into the group of people who think this is really funny. I haven't checked the program guide, but I would think it would be best if each channel was 10-15 minutes apart so that you can relive the same scene over and over again if you want. All day on all Cinema channels. Hahaha.

    Do we PARTY?

The infinite words of wisdom I heard (don't know who said them so I don't attribute them to Verbano) was that Voom was only funded through Jan 31st and they sold their satellite. It is February 1st and my Voom receivers are still working. My guess is that they would never pull the plug...

VOOM Continues Marketing - Gaining New Subscribers

It trended downwards for a couple of reasons: #1 - They purged their system of people who were not paying for the service. This resulted in a lot of people dropping from the numbers who don't represent a loss in revenue since they were not paying. Many of them joined for the few months of...

Cablevision Board To Debate Voom Fate

That $5.9M figure for revenues was for the third QUARTER which makes it three months. $5.9M / (26K subs * 3 Months) = $75.64 per sub per month. The current sub numbers is unknown to the general public.

Cablevision Board To Debate Voom Fate

Just because DirecTV could outbid Dolan doesn't mean that they will. Simply put, Dish is in the better position of the two existing DBS providers to make money off the Voom assets, so they should be able to outbid DirecTV for it, but that doens't mean that DirecTV won't bid on it just to keep...
