End of Service, Account Credit Balance

Yes I'm aware of that. Fact is they could just put the credit right back to the account I paid them with for years. The only reason they do this is to screw people out of part of the refunds they either lose or forget about. Just sh!tty anti consumer policy. I understand why they do it and...

End of Service, Account Credit Balance

Cancelled a few weeks ago. Anyway D* owed me $44.87 since I canceled mid cycle. I figured they would send me a check or just credit my payment method. Instead I get a pre paid visa in the mail for the amount today. Now, yeah, thanks for sending the money you owe me. I mean they have to do...

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

60fps is great and 720p vs 1080i are similar enough that I couldn't care less. I ran them side by side the last 2 weeks and at least here the quality differences are negligible but there are differences. They do have fewer pay stations in HD that Directv. If I subbed those I'd care more but I...

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

I called today to cancel, was offered $45 a month off 12 months or $60 with a contract for 12 months. Just flat up cancelled. Got an X1 with Xfinity, same stations as Directv (although a couple of the kids ones are in SD like nick jr and disney jr but doesn't bother me or my kid) including...

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

Retention has an option to add it. Hilarious thing about it is there is no check for it in their system. It specifically says AT&T wireless sub but I'm actually on cricket but the retention person added in anyway. It has been 3 cycles now I think? So they have no internal way to check as...

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

I do have a question on discounts. From what I gather, please correct me if I am wrong. 1. If you have a low discount for something, let us say $5 for 12 months, that one discount can severely limit your discount options for that 12 months should you seek something in the future. Regardless...

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

What we've done on the new customer deals is simply use my name, social etc for one account. Deal expires, use wife's maiden name and social to sign up. Never had an issue and have done it multiple times over the last 10 years. Maybe something has changed in 2 years but it has worked well for...

Better time of the month or day of the week to call where credits reset for reps or anything like that?

Have AT&T Unlimited wireless plan, get HBO for free

Doesn't appear they have a check for this in their system. Retention added this to my account despite being on Cricket.

    Contract Changes

Nothing has changed and if you don't hook up phone or Internet to the box they have no way of knowing where it is.

Does the FCC really require Directv to get cellphone numbers from customers calling for service?

Actually you save less money bundling. You lose out on the retention offers because you're billing goes through combined billing and they have virtually zero offers. Compared with retentions at both AT&T and Directv you do better calling in individually then combining for a paltry $10.

Does the FCC really require Directv to get cellphone numbers from customers calling for service?

Most likely it is this. They can tell if you are unbundled with AT&T, bundled and or with another carrier and likely what carrier you are with by your number.

HD Direct TV @ 2nd home in Mexico

I can't help you with Mexico but what I can tell you is that we have no issue what so ever getting Directv up north in Quebec City area when we are up there. I imagine that so long as you aren't super far south in Mexico you should be able to get setup properly with HD just as you are with SD...

$25 off DirecTV or DirecTV Now with AT&T Unlimited Plus

Yeah no reason to be on post paid anymore unless you need a payment plan for your phone. 5 lines on cricket for $100 including all taxes and fees simply can't be beat and if I need more than 3gb a line you can go up to 8gb or unlimited. Even works in Canada and Mexico. AT&T and keep its over...

DIRECTV Will Raise Prices Next Month

If you have AT&T coverage in your area you can look into Cricket's unlimited plan. It is capped at 8mbs which is enough for HD and sign up for Vue or something and give it a try. I'd move my number to Google Voice or similar service and use forwarding so the cricket number is throwaway. I...

    Superbowl 4k

The Bj's here has the Directv feed on their 4k SUHD w/ HDR Samsung IIRC. It looks pretty good. Nothing earth shattering but good. Nothing like the 4k demo runs they have running at most stores. Good thing is prices are falling like crazy. If I cared enough I'd go dig through some of the...

At&t's future plan for Satellite service?

There is no way in hell TV will be delivered primarily over IP in 5 years. Directv will still be a huge company with their traditional delivery to most of the same customers they are already serving. Same with Comcast etc.. Growth is going to slow and go negative. Now and other streaming...

I subscribe to The Premium package what will streaming offer me? Because on demand isn't that great

Depends on the service. Vue right now has a DVR so it is mostly business as usual. You're correct, the other streaming options don't really have a DVR option and on demand kind of sucks. So does watching TV like in the 80's having to sit down at 8pm on the dot to watch your show or hope to...

DIRECTV Will Raise Prices Next Month

They know they are going to lose some and given the market changes brewing it is inevitable. People are going to leave or stay with D* for a variety of reasons and the next decade will be about maximizing the price increases while minimizing subscriber loss so they can milk the cow until it...

DIRECTV Will Raise Prices Next Month

"Broadband" isn't really required. The streams run at 5mbs per stream. I ran it on Cricket for a month on their unlimited plan (AT&T network) and it works great. Most people have cell service in their area or can get it with a Wilson antenna or similar. There are options, some might not like...

DIRECTV Will Raise Prices Next Month

Plenty of discounts compared to Vue or Sling depending on your needs. Getting harder and harder to stay with these companies. I'm lucky enough to have a great deal through D* but if that were to ever change I'd drop them like a hot potato for Vue. Paying $140 a month for TV just isn't worth...

Can you still call and "move" to receive different local networks?

We didn't find any reason to bundle worth the trade offs. We dumped AT&T for their own company Cricket and never looked back. 5 lines for 100 and you can get unlimited there for 55 if you need that or several amounts in between. Post paid has nothing on that. Unless you need the payment...
