    Why no Satellite TiVo?

Funny--- My HR20s work just great. At least the equal of the HR10 and in some ways better. Those of you who complain about it "not being a TiVo" may not have given it a chance, I bet. Don't know what you might be missing. I remember the first HR10s also had their problems. I know...

    Pbs Hd?

I think a little research will tell you that's not exactly true. I believe it is now less than 15% and decreasing.

Shouldn't HD audio be in 5.1?

HD Net Movies is an example of a hi-def station that regularly broadcasts audio in less than 5.1. Many of the old movies are originally recored in mono. In that case, they are broadcasting DD 1.0. Stereo is DD 2.0. Not wrong, just different.:)

    TBS HD lacking?

Baseball, at least, will be fine. And there is no such thing as TRUE HD. It is a marketing term only. Get over it.:hatsoff:

    HDMI or component

I have no problem pushing HDMI 50 feet to the slave monitor I mentioned earlier, through a monoprice cable. I wouldn't try 200 feet, though.:)

    HDMI or component

Not to start an argument, but my experience tells me you can't spot which is which unless you know in advance. Either will work just fine. I feed component to my AVR, then convert it to HDMI to the plasma. I use the actual HDMI to feed the small slave set in the nearby kitchen. Both look...

Time to pull the trigger and come HOME!!!

If I were you I would call them and politely say that you are "considering" dropping cable for DirecTV, but only if the price is right. Make sure they know that you are aware that the cable company's set top boxes are free upfront and that you are not interested in running up an unnecessary...

Great Deal! -- Couple HD questions

Believe me, a 720p/1080i signal on an EDTV looks way, way better than an S-video feed. I like your idea about making sure he is using an HD feed. Oh, and the H20 has an S-Video out.

Great Deal! -- Couple HD questions

I don't know why either, from this distance. If you were in Denver, I'd come take a look. What you are getting through the red/white stereo connection is faux surround through your processer -- can't be digital through the analog wiring! The optical will make a real difference. Try it...

Friend TRICKED Directtv into getting HD Locals!

Just to be clear, there is a huge difference between a "law" and a "regulation". The FCC was created by law to regulate. No problem with the typo. I have heard about peeple who make misteaks, but I nver due.

Great Deal! -- Couple HD questions

If you cannot tell a difference betwen the component and the S-Video feeds, something is very wrong with your component feed. How are you sending the component feed (three leads , red, green, blue, right?) to the TV? Are you sure the receiver is sending HD -- 720p/1080i? S-video can only send...

Friend TRICKED Directtv into getting HD Locals!

Ease up there. The rules that govern who gets what signals are not "laws". They are regulations. Assuming there is no intent to re-sell or syndicate the signals in question, personal use does not rise to the level of a "crime" with an attached, legislated punishment. In the second place, the...
