Yes it sure can, but it does not pass 1080p to each eye, I believe the PS3 is mostly 720p 3D. Only HDMI 1.4 can transmit 1080p (for each eye).

Microsoft refuses to offer an exterenal Blu-ray drive, which may have something to do with the fact they spent millions backing Hd-DVD and the format lost, so maybe some pride involved? Meanwhile, blu-ray is going mainstream and Microsoft should offer the drvie if they were smart.
