Oh... I forgot the obvious.... the noise from the failing HD will remain annoying unless I remove it.

I know this is an old thread..... but my HR20 internal HD just starting to balk. Is it as simple as open box, swap HD, and power up? If so, what is the limit for HD size?

I have owned DirecTV for many years and have had various receivers, all with good luck up until my HD20 got zapped by lightning. I got a HD21 as a replacement and it's OK except so one annoying thing......... static/crackling when it changes audio modes... fairly loud. I use HDMI like before...
