I agree, and that's what I indicated in a post the other day - Have only 2 US arcs to have to worry about, either Western or Eastern, and manage satellites & programming accordingly. :cool:

Must be a pretty tight fit, because the Eastern Arc of 61.5/72.7/77 are close to each other and picked-up with one dish..... :confused:

That's what Eastern Arc does - All HD (when available) and the MP4 encoding. I would imagine that is the wave of the future, as everything moves to HD.... ;)

Not sure(...most places I deal with would just leave it as a credit on the account); but financially speaking, you're much better off paying off bills that you're paying interest on, like credit cards & loans, then a monthly bill that's essentially not costing you anything to pay. ;)

Mine is installed on the side of the house, just below the roof line. Has the actual dish mount, plus two braces that go off to the side, kind of like a tripod.

Or a cut back to two properly aimed dishes.... ;) Not really sure what packages you're getting now and what would be covered by the Western Arc. In my case, I had 2 dishes aimed at 110/119/61.5 and now have one aimed at the Eastern Arc & getting everything. :D

I was just thinking about this post - Did you check all of the channels in the Guide? When I got switched to the Eastern Arc, I realized a couple of days later that some of my channel numbers had changed - Off the top of my head, some that I'd been tuning to in the 800x range were now in the...

I would think the Western Arc, which would add 129, would cover it; but am not sure.

Of course, then the main question would be, is Dish even geared-up, both financially & technically, to handle every subscriber picking & choosing individual channels like that. I really doubt it, and I think it would be an absolute nightmare to try to manage. It's easy to say, "Just do it!"...

A la carte is fine if you only want a couple of channels; but almost without fail, package deals are always cheaper than buying individual items, and I don't care if you're talking channels on Dish, options on a vehicle, food at a restaurant or whatever. And, of course, the ultimate question...

My gut feeling tells me for the discounted rate you get what they give you. I'm sure if you called and wanted to pay full price, you could get whatever you want. ;)

The issue I have is that my "locals" really don't have much that interest me any more (...a few shows here & there, plus news & weather) - Most of the shows I watch are on "other" channels, like USA, BBC America, Sci-Fi (or Sy-Fy), etc.; so I'd really never think of going back to an antenna and...

Assuming you were set up similar to me, with 2 dishes pointing a 119/110/61.5 and no international channels (...not sure which bird your locals are on), with VIP (HD) receiver, I'd assume they'd be looking at upgrading you to the Eastern Arc.

Just checked mine and the only addition fee showing is the $15 tech visit charge. :angel:

I would say you're the exception the the rule - In the big scheme of things, so you and 10,000 other subscribers drop out (...or, heck, even 100,000), it really won't matter to whatever service provider you're with. I guess I can plead guilty to not having a CLUE about Apple TV; but I know...

They're right in their explanation; but I'm not sure about the reasoning. Don't know exactly where you are in NY; but being in the Northeast US, it seems they should just be able to hook you up with the Eastern Arc, which is what I'm on. It could be a local channel thing; but then they should...

Being in the Northeast US, I'd think you'd be on the Eastern Arc (1000.4 is what my dish is), which includes 61.5; but you never know how they might have things set up.....

I don't know which plan you're on (...I've got America's Top 200 w/Platinum HD); but it sounds like you should be able to get the new HD channels, and you have 2 VIP receivers, so the Eastern Arc (1000.4) should be an option. I was on 119/110/61.5 and switched over last week.
