    So I'm pluggin back my VOOM STB...

    I am very close to doing the same. I have to stick it out with Dish for another few months but am seriously thinking of cancelling for $60 and then going with OTA for now. BTW - I agree that the picture quality is much better with the VOOM STB vs Dish811.

    I think if FIOS was available as an alternative to all DISH subscribers they would see a mass exodus to FIOS. That said, I think that as fast as Verizon can roll it out to communities is as fast as people will leave DISH for the true HD content (price point doesn't hurt either).

    I believe the upgrade is available regardless of your length of time with Dish. They want to transition everyone over to the new MPEG4 enable STBs.

    don't have an answer to your question as I live in DC. did you get the dish hd package? If so, how is the pq on dish compared to voom?
