    You can use your old receiver on a non HD tv. The receiver will need to be set to 480i output.

    I just got the HR20 this weekend. Also, it will not allow you to stop watching a recorded program and return to the same place. You have to FF back to where you stopped.

    What is your location? You need to check and see if your local stations are O&O (Owned and Operated).

    D* Tivo has just "ok" image on new plasma

    Try sending the signal to the plasma with the component cables. I get a better picture on the SD signals than I previously did using the standard HD receiver.

    You should get the DVR. I would recommend the HD-DVR. My reception with the HD-DVR is as good, if not better, than with the HD receiver.

    Most of the time if you upgrade with D* they will install the second line and dish free. They should know the equipment that you have. Call them and make sure you tell them you want dual tuners.

    Can DirecTV do an HD install before my HD set is in?

    I had my HD connected before my TV was connected. (Only 1 day) This was not a problem. I simply watched tv in the other two rooms without HD. You will have to set up the STB or have them come back out.
