    1 1/2 years bad equipment....

    I've only had the R15's and most of the problems have been about playing back recorded programs. Either the playback stops part way through a recorded show and the message "Do you want to delete..." shows up, or the playback stops and the DVR simply jumps to live tv, or the playback freezes up...

    2 year contract question...

    I'm working on it but I don't know how far I'll pursue it. (I've got about 10 months left on my contract and DirecTV tells me that the early cancellation fee would be $440.00.) My lawyer could probably get me out of either but the legal fees would probably outweigh the savings. Gary

    DirecTV provides me with a DVR per the contract. I record programs that I don't have time to watch live. I try to watch programs that I've recorded and they freeze up or crash or are unwatchable for some other reason. DirecTV replaces the DVR and I lose everything that I've recorded. Happened...

    I can't answer for the OP but I stick with DirectTV because it's the only way that I know of that I can watch all the Pittsburgh Steelers games where I live. If anyone knows of a way that I can see those games without subscribing to NFL Sunday ticket please tell me and I'll pay the early...
