Round dishes no longer good in Iowa

Yeah, after rereading everything I wrote early this afternoon, I realize that a few things I said were misleading. I will try to do a little more research and post more facts next time.

    Follow up on installation

Well, that isnt what I was told, and judging by the work that was done on my home by this contractor, I have no reason to believe otherwise.

Round dishes no longer good in Iowa

The tech that came to finish up the installation I spoke about in another thread here told me today that all locals for this area are going to 110. From what he was saying it sounded like it was a regional thing and not national because he made a reference to the same thing happening in Virginia...

    Follow up on installation

Well, finally the work has been completed. When I called yesterday to make the appointment to finish the installation, I specifically asked that the previous tech not come to my house. I even requested that by his tech id number. Guess who calls me this morning....I called DTV right back and...

    Follow up on installation

Well, the lady on the phone at DTV was kind of a B* about it. I asked her several times, because I just could not believe what she was saying. I couldnt find the self installation guide quick enough to tell her that it was a step there before the call ended. I did call the installation company...

    Follow up on installation

Actually I do not know for sure. I am in the Des Moines area and the original installer wrote "Express" along with an 800 number on the top of the satisfaction checklist. I dont know if the Express thing is the actual name of the company or what, since they do not answer their phones using the...

    Follow up on installation

First of all, thanks for the reply. I called just now to have something set up for tomorrow to ground the dish. I was informed that sealing the mount was an "extra service" that I need to pay for. Can any installers actually confirm this? It doesnt make much sense since it is a step in their...

    Follow up on installation

Alright, so the installer made it out to my house today. He was a really nice guy and answered some questions I had which I was appreciative of. Then the bad part.... He mounts on the roof, which I finally realized was my only option since I had no other LOS attached to the house. I went...

    Do I really need 110 or 119?

Yeah, that's what I figured. The first thing an installer wants to do is start drilling holes wherever he feels like it. When you guys start paying the mortgage on my house you can do whatever you want. Until then, I'll be the one tell you where to put it.

    Do I really need 110 or 119?

Well, I got a letter from DTV in the mail today saying they would waive the $25 setup fee, so I just called and set something up so someone with much more experience than me can take a look at it. They will be here Saturday (suprising!) afternoon. I know the first thing they are going to want...

    Do I really need 110 or 119?

I was wondering if I needed reception of these sats if my programming consists of the basic Total Choice with Locals. I did some searching on Google and it looked like all of the channels that I am hooked up to are on 101. I did a quick run through and that seems to be the case. To me, it looked...
