Thanks, Msmith. I knew the channels in the 70's range were old, but wasn't sure about the Showtime ones like 537, 540 and 543. I was watching something on 537 and it was also on 543. So I switched back and forth to see which looked better but I couldn't tell a difference.

Did you change the resolution on the HR20, or on your television? If you changed it on the HR20, your TV would upscale the 480 to 1080i and maybe your tv has a better scaler than the HR20.

How do you tell if it's MPEG 2 or MPEG 4? On Showtime for instance, there are duplicates of a channel and I just wonder if one is MPEG 4 or MPEG 2 but don't know how to tell. Thanks.

I have an HR20-700 and my locals are high def. You could contact Directv to see if your area has them.

Update Well Directv just left and I am so glad they came out. It turns out I had a bad LNB which he replaced, as well as tweaking the dish. Now my signals are all reading in the 90's with most in the high 90's. So I hope at least with the stronger signal, I might have better luck with snow...

Thanks everyone. We sprayed the dish with silicon spray, and unfortunately we already sprayed the LNB. Any ideas on how to remove silicon spray? :( Directv is supposed to be coming out tomorrow morning and I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply, Matt. I wish I could use a hose to get ice and snow off but unfortunately here it gets too cold. My only option is a 15 foot pool brush. I think I"m going to stop off at the hardware store and get some silicon spray. Maybe that would keep the snow from sticking?
