    Blah, blah, blah Two formats causing consumer confusion is total FUD. There aren't that many great new movies out these days that people are willing to pay $30+ for. Many of us took the plunge and bought LOTR...maybe even the box set...and maybe even the special-special-director's-edition box...

    They just sunk $1000 for a PS3, games and accessories. I don't think they're going to line up to spend $30 on a movie just yet! :rolleyes: Besides...it's a GAMING machine.

    I'm in the HD camp, but don't see this as being a biggie. They cannot afford to discount the players, so why not reduce the profit margin on the media?

    Believe you me I'd love to have this puppy in my entertainment rack at home, but nobody but people with money to burn is going to buy into a particular format right now. I know WHY they are pushing both -- the loser will have to the pay winner to use their technology in either issuing discs...

    I just read an article the other day about Sony having to upgrade the firmware in a plasma TV model plagued with issues. If this stuff is done remotely, can you imagine the uproar if a firmware update didn't go a planned and jacked the system so it couldn't even start?
