POLL: After VOOM, who will be your provider?

I'm making the switch to Dish on May 3rd. Wish me luck, I'll miss all the Voomers... But I'm gonna love my new 942 HD-DVR (a small consolation). ;) Cheers electr0n

VOOM Fade to Black and Farewell: T-Minus 9 Days and Counting...

I will be making the switch to Dish on May 3rd (reluctantly). Thanks to all those that posted helpful and informative messages here. I will miss the drama and entertainment of the Voom forums that's for sure! Cheers- electr0n

If you don't like what VOOM provides, why are you still whinning about it?

I was scared to death back when I signed up in May because of the gloom and doom around here. Because there was the $0 install I jumped in knowing I had nothing to lose and am very glad I did. I wonder how many people will become new customers having to pay for installation now. Anyway, I'm...

DD5.1 problem, no center or surround channels

I thought the same thing when I got Voom. But many movies that are shown make little or no use of the surround channels. So I think it depends greatly on the movie. Three that I've seen recently blew me away with awesome surround: Bad Boys II Ice Age Star Wars II Attack of the Clones When...

Sorry to say: VOOM's gotta go

rcmojo - yes Fox here in Austin is only broadcasting at 800 watts. Silly isn't it? Check it here under KTBC http://genesisht.com/AustinHDTV.html I emailed the station to see when they were going to bump up the power and they said this is just a "test signal" and there is no date set to...

Sorry to say: VOOM's gotta go

Sorry to see you go mojo - I'm in Austin as well and have the same problem with Fox. Did you know KTBC is only broadcasting at 800 watts? That's a joke! No wonder nobody in Austin can get Fox OTA... I get all my other locals with no problems, but I'm only about 8 miles from the towers...

CONFIRMED: New version 6.10 has arrived! (Please post your observations here)

I got my upgrade last night and everything seems to be working fine. I gained two local channels by doing the OTA scan. Is it too early to start whining about when the next release is coming? ;)

Did anyone have problems with 6.10 download?

Update - After three warm reboots and three cold reboots I gave up, the box appeared dead. I went away for about 20 minutes and when I came back I had a red dish on the front of the box. I was receiving channels with a red dish indicator, I then checked the S/W version - still 5.68 but it...

Did anyone have problems with 6.10 download?

Ok, woke up this morning and the box is dead. I have tried 3 warm reboots and a cold reboot and still nothing. This isn't funny.

CONFIRMED: New version 6.10 has arrived! (Please post your observations here)

Haven't gotten my update yet, but a question for the folks that do. I read a post that there was no change to the PG as far as being able to schedule daily or weekly recordings. My question is did they at least change the default to "auto on" or is it still "reminder"? Thanks-

    Program planner is not working

No, if you do auto on the box stays on when its done. At least on my box that's how it works. ;)

Can't The Morons at Voom do Anything right?

I got a call from a nice guy named Paul from Voom who apologized for the confusion. He explained that they bill a month in advance and that is the explanation that I got double billed this month (these are my first two bills - I'm a new customer). He said he was sorry that no one told me that...

Can't The Morons at Voom do Anything right?

I called and after asking what was going on with my double billing issue the CSR didn't have a good answer. He said something about having a weird billing cycle. I said "don't you just charge once a month" and he said "yeah". Well what could possibly be weird about that? When I mentioned...

Can't The Morons at Voom do Anything right?

I've been very patient with Voom so far but if this multiple billing issue isn't resolved quickly I'll be saying adios... I'll put up with a lot of stuff but I absolutely won't tolerate someone screwing around with my credit card. I emailed Wilt to hopefully get the right people working on it...

Can't The Morons at Voom do Anything right?

I caught that bug too. I noticed a charge on 7/6 which is my normal billing date, then another on 7/20. I noticed they had different NY ZIP codes on each (070404 on the 7/6 and 071904 on the 7/20). I'm going to email Wilt...

Which Feature is More Important to YOU? (Take 2)

I voted picture quality. I don't have any OTA mapping issues though. The next most important thing for me is the audio/video dropouts when changing channels and when not changing channels for that matter! Thanks for the poll - I guess the buck stops at PQ. Makes sense when you're talking...

Unable to resize screen only in Voom? Non HDTV channels look awful!

Martin586 - I have a Sony KF50WE610 and it should work. Do what Sean said in the previous posts and you should be able to get full screen on HDTV and pillar box on SD. It looks the best that way - well at least it pleases the wife!

Its July 1, 2004 and no software.

As I mentioned my OTA's are mapped ok so I'm being patient. What is really important to me though, is this dropping audio/video/both issue when I change channels - is that going to be fixed? If that problem is still there then I will be crying in my beer. To me this is a big usability issue -...

Its July 1, 2004 and no software.

My OTA channels are mapped correctly otherwise I'd be hopping mad. I feel everyone else's pain though. I just want it to be right (or at least to fix more things than it breaks!) so I guess that I'm in no hurry. If the new software is the same as lostcause's box (there's a whole other...

Just got voom installed!! Brand new software??

Thanks lostcause for the feedback. I appreciate you keeping us in the loop. At least it looks like we'll have the OTA mapping issue fixed - that's really all we were promised. Now where's my software download??? :)

Just got voom installed!! Brand new software??

I second that rudolpht - let's hear about what the new software does! Reference this link to tell us what has been resolved - it would be greatly appreciated! Software bug link I hope that I inserted that link right.

Sean I have a digital camera - did you want me to take a picture of something on 5.68? Boy this is exciting!

Just got voom installed!! Brand new software??

I'm not sure about the software version number either - I just saw that OTA scanning was an option and I'm pretty sure that's in the new release. By dropouts I mean sometime when you change channel you may have video but no audio or audio but no video or both :-0 It's a characteristice of...
