    Attention VOOMers switching to cable!

Easy the 8000HD sucks a lot. The 8300HD sucks a little less. :D Seriously, tho... the 8000 doesn't have DVI active, no SD & HD at the same time (except the copy to VCR function), firewire and USB are also inactive. The 8300 has active DVI (or is it HDMI?), simultanious SD & HD, and I...

Here's the Real EchoStar deal for Voomers...

That pricing without locals. Locals adds $5. If you look at the Digital Home Advantage (lease) pricing, it is $5 higher, and includes the local channels. -John

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

So, can you get the Digital Home Advantage plan (the lease) without the local channels? I get them OTA, and have no need for the SD ones from the sat. Thanks, -John

POLL: After VOOM, who will be your provider?

I also thought this after hearing so many bad reports here. But after having comcast for a week, I'm convienced the E* stuff can't possibly be any worse than the Comcast stuff. Ugh... -John

POLL: After VOOM, who will be your provider?

If there's one thing I've learned from working at Northrop Grumman... Make sure to lube up before bending over! I think it applies in your situation as well! :smug -John

POLL: After VOOM, who will be your provider?

For me it was because of no commitment and no up front fees. Personally, I'ld prefer D*, but I'm not going to pay $300 (or just $100) for a HD STB that will be obsolete in a few months! -John

POLL: After VOOM, who will be your provider?

Possibly. I was quoted $150 for the 811. But the CSR may have been high or something. :) Just like the D* CSR that said free HD-DVR in the other thread. heh -John

POLL: After VOOM, who will be your provider?

They still offer the Free For All program as well. You'll need to call them tho. It's $150 the 811 box, and 30 monthly credits of $5. Advantage is that you dont need to subscribe to the locals ($5 savings). If you notice, the DHA prices are $5 higher, but they INCLUDE local channels, so...

CNET.com: Death of Voom: we just weren't ready

Yeah, you don't realize how good of a deal it was. I was only paying $50 for 26 HD channles + OTA HD. At regular prices, you can't touch that. Oh well... Still going to miss Monsters HD the most. Even though I have Comcast now, I'll keep Voom thru the end of the month for the Voom21...

    From the 4/15 SKY Report.....

I can believe the OTA was a major problem. I had no luck at all getting Voom to install an OTA antenna. I've also heard tons of reports here complaining of missing a few locals or locals pixelating badly. That and a lot of other install problems. I also think no RSNs killed it for them...

GoDaddy.com... that's the SuperBowl ad with the girl in that had the wardrobe malfunction. I believe they have the full unedited version online too. :shocked -John

Will Voom go out with a bang?

I've got comcast coming this weekend, but I am going to keep Voom till the end. They still have Roger Dodger to premier that I want to see. Today they premiered Perfect that I also wanted to watch (very good PQ, btw). -John

Voom promises of 50 channels, price reduction, etc

Chris, For a multi-room system, how much cable needs to be run? Right now I have one receiver with seperate cables from sat & antenna to the receiver, then a single coax that gets split to two additional TVs. If I upgrade to 3 receivers, will they need to run a line from the dish and...

Voom promises of 50 channels, price reduction, etc

Not quite. The programming fee goes up $10. Box rental fees go down to $5 (save 4.50 per box) Mirror charge goes to $0 (save $5.00 for each box except the first). So... 1 box = Extra $6.50 per month 2 boxes = Save $4 per month 3 boxes = Save $13.50 per month etc... Makes...

Voom promises of 50 channels, price reduction, etc

I believe the new deal is 89.90 + 5 + 10. They changed the rental fees from $9.50 to $5 with no mirroring fee. So, the only difference is the $49 install fee vs $1 install fee. Don't take my word for it, it means nothing, call to make sure! :) -John
